Hey,

Villain is a reg, I felt I could play IP quite well against him.

AF of 6.3 on the flop, cbets 79% of the time.

Feel that a lot of his range he is going to bet the flop, but as he bet almost pot this seemed more like a made hand that he's tying to protect against draws rather than a drawing hand where he wants money in the pot.

Raising him might make him want to fold overpairs, and i have outs to improve here?

Can we go broke on this?

Thanks!

Hi

Rule of thumb: Don't raise something for value if you're not willing to go broke with it.
This applies to most things and most streets.

Preflop example: MP opens, you have JJ in the BTN. Should you value 3-bet? If you want to fold to a 4-bet, then you shouldn't 3-b in the first place.

You need to be absolutely certain that he'll
1. Call with a ton of worse hands
2. Rarely 4-bet a worse hand
In order to justify a raise/folding line.

Here I think it's fine at NL2 cos NL2 players tend to overplay their medium strength hands. Vs more solid players at higher limits I probably wouldn't raise this cos people are just not going crazy with AA here.

Thanks.
