Sometimes something happens that is beyond my understanging.

For example, today. I was playing and suddenly two guys just raped me! I haven't seen so much luck for a while.

I had enough around this hand which is called "I have a draw I call":

Poker Stars, $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 2 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $103.36 (206.7 bb)
Hero (BB): $92.31 (184.6 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q Q
SB raises to $1.50, Hero raises to $5, SB calls $3.50

Flop: ($10) 2 4 2 (2 players)
Hero bets $5.50, SB raises to $14, Hero raises to $87.31 and is all-in, SB calls $73.31

Turn: ($184.62) 6 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
River: ($184.62) 7 (2 players, 1 is all-in)

Results:

Spoiler

$184.62 pot ($0.50 rake)
Final Board: 2 4 2 6 7
SB showed 6 5 and won $184.12 ($91.81 net)
Hero showed Q Q and lost (-$92.31 net)

I guess everyone had those sessions when someone keeps 3betting-4betting-raising-checkraising and stuff. It drives me crazy especially when I don't have anything to counterattack him with.

But one thing that pisses me off the most is when I suddenly get some good hands against him and it looks like he feels it or something and stops doing his aggressive shit.

And this keeps happening since yesterday.

I don't know maybe I'm PMSing but at this very moment I'm a raging tilting bitch.

Remember what Gordon said about confabulations...

You're just making yourself a story. And each time the guy check folds when you have the nuts you keep telling yourself that it happens every single time which isn't true.

Just to help your mindset... It can of course happen that an aggro monkey like myself checks back each time you get there.

GL on the tables

I took a day-off from poker (although it might be 2 days since I woke up at 9pm) and I did some thinking about motivation, playing and mistakes.

For me, 'motivation' can be changes with a word 'will'. Not enough motivation = not willing to do something.

At some point in my life I had to motivate myself to get out of bed.

I've never traveled, I've never wanted some fancy new gadgets like an iphone (but of course I wouldn't mind having a new monitor and/or keyboard and/or mouse and/or PC) or fashion clothes. "setting goals" has always been somewhat foggy like "climb up to 200NL".

And now after years I spent in poker my mistakes are still here. And I believe I can't get rid of them because I don't have enough (or any) motivation to do that. I despise the fact that everything depends on money in this world so my entity fights with my will to get myself together and get those moneyz.

And all this journey to success still looks like a drawing on a sand which can be blown away with a breeze.

But at the same time I deeply believe that if I change something small, a tiny little detail, it all will work out the way I want it to.

So I start with the obvious thing.

I shall read my motivational and theoretical notes before every session, I shall listen to a nice song and I shall close my internet browser for the session duration. Also I'll try to configure the sites-blocking addon (which blocks the access to specified sites after a certain time I've spend there) because lots of sites eat lots of my time.

It might look like an easy task but I'm like a refresh junkie, lol.

We'll see in a week if it affects my game at all (especially the preparation part).

Good luck!

Games and browser.
Well, it's a doublefail.

Firstly, I got into a low priority pool in Dota2 because I abandon the games way too often. Now if I want to play in the next day I'll have to play with moronic leavers like myself. But I don't want to spend my time with a bunch of russians who cuss through all the game in voice-chat becase we're losing while they're the reason we're losing since picking 4 carries is not a good plan. Phew.

Secondly, I completely forgot about one useful thingy that browser contains which is PTR. So I need to correct my rule a little bit because sometimes it's very helpful to check out my opponent there.

And a little bit more about games.

Actually I just love playing any kind of FPS/Action, but lately I've been playing some weird shit. For example, right now I'm rotating between "DuckTales Remastered (which is a remake of the Dandy game. Hello, childhood!), "Parers, please" (which is a simulator of an immigration officer) and a new horror game called "Outlast".

And you know, I used to play for like a whole day if I really liked a game, or I could play Half-Life for the millionths time, or I could keep playing untill I made it through a very rough moment. Now I get bored in like 20 minutes. Am I getting old?

Oh, another thing.
I will play with my new rules not for a week but for 12 days (including 1 dayoff).

why are we jamming flop here? I see no point, I much prefer call flop and c/c on all streets maybe x/r river, sucks to be oop but that's all we can do unless vilain is a huge megafish (wich he turns out ot to be) but with no special dynamics etc... we miss tons of value on the flop as played.

Wow surprisingly this blog has so many things in common with me, just had to post.

First of all Dota2 low priority! Haha, I know the feeling. I've been playing dota at a high level for the past 5 years orso. I know being stuck with morons ingame, I have 4 different steam accounts with dota2 on it so if one of them is in low priority I just switch my account. I think I left over 400 games in Dota2 :f_cool:

Back to poker. Haven't read the whole blog but the last parts quickly. I definitely recognize alot of those motivation/mental/game issues back than. I struggled alot as well, trying to find a "path" in poker. I was originally a NL25 grinder. Got in some motivation/mental issues due runbad after 60k hands orso. Decided to play HU, had decent results but the swings were pretty huge for a NL25 grinder. So I went trying the HUSNGs at lower buyins along with some MTTs: basically just fooling around trying to find the "fun" in poker. I eventually did, once you have that "fun" your motivation to play and study will increase.

Would deff. recommend trying to find the "fun" in poker, fool around with some other formats like PLO or MTTs. I started off watching tv series while playing some micro MTTs for fun and I actually finished one in first place. If money is affecting your poker game alot, try a stake so you can focus more on the game.

GL, feel free to add me on steam/skype for some dota2 games in evening if you want :P

I'm not a good Dota2 player, so don't want to play with high-skilled ppl. It's kinda hard to win and/or have fun 4vs5. xD

And I do have fun when I play HU, just sometimes it feels so pointless and unfair that I want to go to bed, lay down there, close my eyes and dont get up for like ever.

Nowadays I play like 2-3 game per day avg, on matchmaking. Just join me + a friend, just don't play solo or carry :f_biggrin:
