Apple and oranges. When I say that it balances in the long run it means that it will become EV0. If you play a disconnected villain and take his blinds and he does the same when you're disconnected next time you play together and takes your blinds then it balances, and it goes back to square one.
If you go fuck your wife's best friend, I don't see how it can be balanced by him fucking your wife, there's no such thing as 'back to square one'. It's pretty insane to think so.

I make a distinction between "disconnected" and "sitting out"
If is a disconnection, I wait a while -- and on Pokerstars, they give the disconnected player the full disconnection allowance each time the action is on the disconnected player. Once it becomes obvious that the player is not coming back, though, I'll proceed. This has only happened to me once.
If it is a player "sitting out" deliberately, it was that player's conscious decision. I presume he knows the consequences, and I'll happily bet.
Like most things -- including mate swapping -- it all depends on the attitudes of the participants. There are couples who willingly engage in foursomes, so I'm not sure that that particular comparison works here.
Besides that, coarse language tends to lower the tone of the discussion.

At low stakes, whether I'm playing recreationally or grinding, I would bet and hope to win the SNG while he is still disconnected.
This is partly because the money is relatively inconsequential (even if the $11 or whatever for this SNG was my opponent's case money, I've not put his family out on the streets) and also because the player pool is much wider so the personal vitriol of one player isn't so -EV.
However, at higher stakes, I believe that you should endeavor to give them a fair chance to return by checking for a reasonable amount of time. You're more likely to run into the player again if he's a reg and it's best to keep mutual respect in the game; furthermore if he is a recreational player it's always nice to have them like you.
How about if you see the other player waiting for opponents on HU SNG's. Do you register for them?
This happened to me once. I was the one disconnected on a single hu sng and came back 4 tables open. Luckily I could turn 3 of them around.

Fair play to them. I just wish more players would follow this example 
If it's not friend of mine I am going to steal his blinds. No point to do anything else really. Beside while multitabling I don't want to waste time to check if villain is back or not.
