ciRith agrees with your suggestion :) He said c/r flop is better in part because the player is very passive.

Check raise flop and bet turn vs call flop and donk turn
-villain calldown either line: -1 SB
-paired boards are bluffboards, calldowns or even more action (and money for us ) with A high or pockets possible
-huge balancing problems. which other (weaker hands) can I play with this line that villain does not know I am holding a monster? And as backward view our standard line bluffs with c r flop are stronger when we play our monsters the same way

on the other side it is not so important to balance a line that is chosen only seldom and the line might be the best one playing a special opponent.

Yeah, no doubt I would c/c flop c/r turn against a normal TAG at a higher limit in shorthand but most of your concerns are irrelevant at this level.

Firstly the value aspect though, c/r flop + cd yields 3BB, c/c donk turn yields 2.5BB. To make it as good as c/r flop we need an additional .5 BB. If he raises our donk on the turn (or on the river) then we get an additional 2BB which only has to happen 25% of the time assuming he never caps.

He capped preflop therefore I assumed that he is a reasonably aggressive.

Also balancing is not an issue at this limit, but at 1-2 or 2-4+ you could mix it in with donking draws against low WTS opponents on scary turn cards or with TP as well I guess. Bluffs with c/r flop in position in a 3-bet pot is not really an issue for balancing cause you should be playing call flop raise turn most of the time against a normal opponent, our only concern here is maximising value.

All that being said c/c donk turn or c/r/c flop d/r turn would probably be more appropriate vs a really aggressive player at this limit, against this player I guess the chance is quite low that he will raise anywhere down the line so c/r flop is probably better =)

Hey guys my first Sunday coaching went well.

Firstly as I logged onto party for the coaching a tourney popped up. It was the 20K deuces freeroll that I had entered ages ago but forgot about! The blinds were already at 30/60 so I played on with the help of my fellow coachees while playing 3 tables of .25/.50$ FL FR. I was doing well with a 30BB stack entering the 100/200 stage when I stole from the SB with QQ and he reraised all in with KJo with a 20BB stack. I instacalled and the flop was KJx.... =(((

Anyway that was a fun little sidetrack during the coaching and might try something in the future that gets everyone involved like that :P (lucky i had some SnG players to help me!)

There were some good FL hands too

Known players: (for a description of vp$ip, pfr, ats, folded bb, af, wts, wsd or hands click here)

0.25/0.50 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (7 handed)
Hand recorder used for this poker hand: Texas Grabem 1.9 by www.pokerstrategy.com.

Preflop: Hero is BU with T♠, A♦
MP1 folds, MP2 calls, 2 folds, Hero raises, SB folds, BB calls, MP2 calls.

Flop: (6.40 SB) 5♥, 3♦, A♣ (3 players)
BB bets, MP2 folds, Hero raises, BB calls.

I like to raise the donks of these players because they could be donk/check-calling later so I want to get some raised value out of them asap + charge any draws to stronger hands like...

Turn: (5.20 BB) 4♥ (2 players)
BB bets, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, Hero calls.

...a gutshot! This was kinda close and I had to think about many factors like, are the fish too afraid to donk a worse ace/pair if theres an obvious straight like this...I though maybe... but didn't want to miss some value from the worse hands so I raised. Maybe folding after his 3-bet is ok cause come to think of it how often to players 3-bet the turn at this limit with something worse than TPMK? Anyway I called.

River: (11.20 BB) T♦ (2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.

After calling the turn 3-bet I certainly can't fold this river, as I suck out on a few 2-pair combos like Ax + 54/34 so it's a pretty easy call.
Final Pot: 13.20 BB

He had 32 to satisfy your curiosity :)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 8♣, 8♦. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
MP1 folds, Hero raises, MP3 folds, CO calls, BU folds, BB calls, SB calls.

Flop: (8.00 SB) J♦, 2♦, J♥ (4 players)
BB checks, SB checks, Hero bets, CO folds, BB calls, SB calls.

A nice flop for my low/mid pair. A jack is unlikely and A/K high hands are more inclined to calldown as they think I haven't hit anything! Also lower PPs to and probably a 2 also would calldown + some obvious flush draws. Against resistance I'd revert to calldown mode myself.

Turn: (5.50 BB) 3♥ (3 players)
BB checks, SB checks, Hero bets, BB calls, SB folds.

Total blank so rebet.

River: (7.50 BB) K♠ (2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.

A jack is out of the question (I hope that aren't THAT bad), so it's either he has a K or nothing and I decided that I must be ahead 1/10 times in this situation as he could probably do this with some worse hands like a lower pair/A high/busted flush or straight draw. Note this is player dependent and I'm playing without stats so he's an unknown, against straightforward loosepassives this would be a fold.

Final Pot: 9.50 BB

Hope you guys enjoyed the coaching as much as I did See ya on wednesday

You should be able to find some niche poker sites that have no limit on the amount of raises you can do =)

Hello again we had very few nice hands and I spent most of the time answering people's questions ^^ which isn't a bad thing at all and was quite a nice change.

River: (6.70 BB) J♣ (2 players)

Final Pot: 8.70 BB

Not the best turncard in the world....My plan is to bet/fold this turn as I know many of the players at this limit can calldown with a nonspade hand and I'm ahead of a lot of them.

The river is interesting however because as well as him donking which I'd probably normally fold to I improved to trips top kicker. This could incline him to think that he's ahead with an 8 or maybe he has a jack himself. This was a close river call, but I thought I'd be ahead 1/~9 times with such a strong hand. Any other card and I'm folding to a river donk against an unknown here.

River: (5.50 BB) 9♣ (2 players)

Final Pot: 7.50 BB

A not so bad flop here, either he's got me destroyed or I'm way ahead against good turn and river cards. The turn is good for sure, and I'm not sure I can even fold to a raise here though the pot is kinda small at that point so it could go either way. The river is a blank except if he's holding a 9 so I'm calling any raise on the river for sure.

There was another hand which I didn't capture with pocket jacks, where it was a Kxx flop heads up, he c/c flop after i raised preflop. Turn was a Q he c/c again. I bet the turn because if he will only raise a better hand and he will call a small x pair or a weaker pocket as well as a flush draw or even a gutshot as we saw several times this session! River is bet/fold as well against this passive opponent, the key here is thin valuebets that pay off in the long run because our opponents are generally as showdown bound as anything and will only raise better hands.

Any questions or comments are most welcome

Hey there-

I got a remark on your new FL 2/4 SH Gold session review, concerning the AA hand in minute 27.

Your Hand AA, flop 858, flop raised by Bravo, the super passive fish you got 14 (!) hands of. You fold the Aces on the turn pairing the 5.

Although I agree that this player is insanely passive, after 14 hands the read you have can not possibly be good enough to fold the Aces here.

You say that this player (having a pfr of 0) could do this with a pocket pair between 88 and AA, but you fold on the turn, as every 5 beats you. After seeing him call down with top pair, where you picked your read, I think a 5 is less likely than any sort of pocket, so the turn does not change much.

You cannot assume he won´t raise an overpair solely based on the read that he does not raise TPNK. Most fish tend see overpairs as the unbeatable nuts.

And (this being my point based on the meager 14hands history) you can´t exclude him having a pure bluff either, as even the most passive fish regularly attack paired boards.

He turned out to be so genuinely passive in the second half of the video, but having to pay 8$ for a calldown, the pot being 23 + his two bets, I don´t see me fold here.

If I give him any 5 and any 8 and 99+, you have 31,208% of equity on the turn.
If I only give him 55, any 8 and 99+, you have 40,816%.

And I would assume a few pure bluffs after only 14 hands of history.

Other than that the video was very nice, liked the AQs semibluff 3handed at the end of it very much.
The single table session review is nice to have between the ones containing more action- the detailed and opponent specific explanations make up for the lack of quantity of hands.

Looking forward to see your coachings when PP shows me tables again ;)

Hmm...

I think my logic was flawed in calling flop and folding to turn bet cause he won't raise the 5 on the flop so it's only an 8 we're behind here. As played it's easier to calldown cause of the potsize but on the flop we're paying 10 to win 40 so we have to be ahead 1/5 times and you correctly mention that we only have 14 hands on this player, though what I've seen so far he has pretty much not bet or raised at all.

Possibly it was fancy play syndrome folding here so maybe even considering our position after the flop raise we can call down ;) as played I certainly should have called down I think.

Flop: (16.00 SB) 2♠, 4♥, 6♠ (5 players)
SB bets, UTG calls, Hero raises, MP1 3-bets, MP3 folds, SB calls, UTG calls, Hero calls.

You always have to bet/raise/3-bet in this situation to protect from such a drawy board and possibility of overcards busting you out! However after someone 3-bets themselves I'm not sure we're ahead often enough to cap.

Turn: (14.00 BB) K♣ (4 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, Hero checks, MP1 bets, SB calls, 2 folds.

Not the card we really wanted to see, anyway I'm not sure it's a good idea to continue here as firstly it's kinda pricey to calldown assuming no one raises and if someone check/raises this king we have to fold so we should fold for the single bet.

River: (16.00 BB) A♦ (2 players)
SB bets, MP1 calls.

Final Pot: 18.00 BB

Btw we were ahead until the ace came out xD, note I was playing without stats here.

Aurelijus is awesome, Roxylein is slightly less awesome.

Hey guys, another wednesday another coaching...

This time I decided to randomly do a public private coaching, and bananaranger was the only one who fronted up to play Even though he's a 3/6 and 5/10 player it was still a nice coaching, though a beginner who plays fullring FR at the micros would have gained more from it as presumably he'd have a lot more leaks than a successful SH player.

Post in the thread if you'd like to play perhaps in another public private coaching especially if you are a beginner that's unsure on many points in your game ;)

Not many controversial hands were posted and the correct decision was pretty clear most of the time nonetheless heres a hand anyway.

We played with no stats.

The turn decision is not really that close, a turn raise can be easily 2-pair a worse set or even just top pair+flush draw and we're only behind against a flopped flush so we can be ahead enough (66%) of the time to warrant a 3-bet here. A turn cap in this case means we are most likely behind but we can still some of the hands listed above, also we have 10 full outs against a flush anyway. The river is not good and perhaps we could even raise again on a non-spade card but we can't really fold this either cause we're getting 1:20 on our call ;)

I hope you enjoyed the coaching this week guys, tune in next time =)
