WEEK FOUR

Hello!! It has been four weeks since the start of my blog!!

Back by popular demand - Please listen as you read:

"I got a problem y'all - I get a little loose - Playing Texas Holdem and I hold the seven deuce"

"It's not a game of luck - but you can get unlucky - Turn a straight - and suffer when the river fucks me"

Yeh that's right - I am crying this week. I did not have what you would call a "SUCCESSFUL" week...

What?

WHAT!?

Who the fuck are you guys anyway? The Success police? Leave me the fuck alone!!

But seriously...

My move to $10NL was rough. I mean ridiculously rough. I had no idea moving up one level would prove to be so difficult!!

Here you go:

$9.28 Profit incl. RB // $.22 an hour (FML)

Early-Week:
So I had just finished writing my blog and I was super excited to be moving up - not gonna lie - I was feeling pretty baller.

So I started playing like 4 tables "Just to warm up" and I got fucking destroyed...

I can def. attribute some of the losses to tilt but it is something much bigger than that this week. I can't put my finger on it. My initial thoughts:

1.) The players are "better" (Which I don't think is necessarily the case - depending on your definition of better)

2.) The Players are more aggressive and therefore harder to exploit (This is def. true)

3.) The players are sticky as hell (I don't think in 34,641 hands anyone folded...ever...especially when I was bluffing)

Anyway...

I dropped a chunk but obv. at $10NL it hurt a little more so using my incredible resolve and bankroll skills I had to drop down again and I was demoralised as fuck.

Mid-Week:
Okay so I took a break and tried to remember what I had learned so far. I still had the beats at $10NL ringing in my ears and it felt like I hadn't learned a thing! I kept getting to showdown and I had either been outdrawn or I had been called down with A high following RR/C-R/B/B line? So I returned to my spiritual home at $5NL and I murdered some fish. One in particular who was decidedly playing the worst SSS I have ever seen managed to lose 9 100BB buyins in one session - 40BBs at a time MEGA LOLZ.

THIS HELPED:

ULTIMATE MULTI-SCREEN ACTION!!

I was playing well and I was wondering why I was struggling so much at $10NL but looking forward to getting back to the stage where I could take another shot.

late-Week:
I returned to $10NL and although I had made some good adjustments to the level I couldn't seem to get any momentum. It felt like I would win a BI lose a BI win a BI lose a BI win a BI lose a BI. ETC. ETC.

It was seriously tilting and before long I had a run of hands where I decided that for sake of my sanity and for the blog I would move down and try and get in the profit before the end of the week.

I finished strong and obv. just managed to get in the green before the end of the week.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I am at a loss - I would really appreciate any help or advice the community has for me out there. I want to move up but there is something wrong. I don't know if it is my game or the opposition or maybe it is just a mental thing?

Interesting stats:

Win-rate at $5NL : 10.35BB/100 (22K sample)

= + $134.44

Win-rate at $10NL : -12.5BB/100 (12K sample)

= - $129.85

It just feels like with more preflop aggression and less c-bet success the variance is so much higher that it's hard to attribute the skill aspect to 6-max at $10NL.

I AM NOT SAYING IT CANNOT OR WILL NOT BE BEATEN!

I just need to work harder. I guess at $5NL it is easy just to switch into auto-pilot and cruise like 6-8 tables but I will have to get passed that if I want to continue.

Any advice would be awesome guys - I am totally committed to playing this game ATM and I don't want to fall at this hurdle.

Things that helped:

- STOP LOOKING AT CURRENT SESSION!!

- NO SERIOUSLY STOP LOOKING IT JUST PUTS YOU ON TILT!!

- Range adjustment at $10NL

- Don't Spew!!

That's all for this week - Good luck at the tables - Wish me luck at $10NL

oh and of course always remember to...

Just keep swimming :f_p:

Yo dude.
Keep ur chin up, running bad in 20 000 hands is very standard. Even the best players can loose over 20 000 hands, u have to have a graph of atleast 100 000. Just put in the grind, it will fix itself in the end.

Tips would be to play ALOT of hands vs fish/recreational players. And play small pots when u dont hit, but when u hit, play mega huge pots.
Example, fish raises, u have J5s in the blinds so u get a discount, call. Or even when they min raise, u can call from every position since u get so good prise. Fish min raise, u have 9To on the button=CALL. But fold to c bet if u dont hit. U only loose 2bb, but when u hit, u win 100+bb very often.

WEEK FIVE

Very special blog this week - let me give you a clue:

BOOM BABY - I AM GOING TO VEGAS!!

Yes that's right - I am heading off to Sin City for my cousins wedding and of course LIVE POKER!!

More of that later - BUT FIRST - I need to tell you guys about how terrible I run and, for about the 3rd week running, how I managed to come back from a terrible start and managed to edge my way into profit at the last minute - I am slightly worried it is becoming more of a habit than a variance thing - BUT - as you can see I was roughly 12 buyins below EV and it fucking sucked :/

I'll spare you the sob story - here is the graph:

AND...

OH YEH BIG COMP WIN!! (INSERT SARCASM HERE)

$58.43 Profit incl. RB // $2.24 an hour (WoooOOOOooooOOOooooo!!)

Early-Week:
Classic shit - Started at $10NL thought things were improving from last week and I ran awful. Set ups - Run outs - Suck outs = YOU NAME IT!! Not much to report on this front but I decided to move down AGAAAIINNNN and things didn't improve...

Mid-Week:
Ran awful at $5NL again and was thinking the world was against me so tried to think of ways to change it up. I played some shitty 1.10 rebuy just to break things up. PATHETIC I KNOW!! but was really cool to get away from cash for a couple hours and I found the comp game had improved a bit (Or I was just running like god hahahahah) Came third won $33 - happy days!

During this time I actually had to do some...

"REAL WORK"

Whatever the fuck that is!! so I missed out on some volume I would have usually got in here. and made some...

"REAL MONEY"

These people and their MATERIALISTIC NEEDS!! Don't they know poker is about the joy of the game and not the cash!?!?!

(LOLINGTON ROFLCOPTER)

Late-Week:
Decided that enough was enough and I was going to own this poker shit - Loaded up 4 tables of RUSH (which I have left untouched up until this point) and proceeded to crush souls into the late hours of Thursday evening. Had some HUUUGGEEEE threeway pots vs. what can only be classified as MEGA WHALES!! You know who you are

FINAL THOUGHTS
Really desperate to get out of the micros now and I think I have done my time slugging it out. Obv. play this week was standard to good and I think I will experiment more playing RUSH as it seems to be more conducive to my "A GAME" plus at these levels it seems to induce people to play either MEGA TIGHT or MEGA RETARD which both suits me fine

My Win-rate has increased from pretty much 0 to roughly 10-15BB/100 on average since I started so it seems like all this blog stuff really helps

VEGAS NEXT WEEK!!

SOOOOOOO Excited - it is gonna be amazing - Don't have a huge roll - Probably only going to have about a thousand bucks this time round even though it is my first visit to MECCA (I mean Las Vegas). Unf. the wedding was last minute so didn't have time to put some cash aside :/

Won't have time to play that much online this week but I will try and document the Vegas trip as best I can with some poker related info too hopefully - OR - I will be off my nut the whole trip and wake up in a bathtub full of champagne/Hookers/Cocaine/(INSERT FETISH/VICE HERE) and huge hotel bill (One can only hope).

Things that helped:

- Perseverance

- Zoom

- Competition Break time

That's all for this week - Good luck at the tables and remember...

Just keep swimming :f_p:

WEEK SIX (SORTA)

THIS SONG SOUNDS LIKE HOW I FEEL!!!!!

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!!

Wassup my peoples - Yeh I know it isn't TECHNICALLY week 6 but I have been busy and I promise I won't disappoint!!

VEGAS!!

Vegas was fucking sick - PEOPLE - IF YOU CAN GO RIGHT NOW - FUCKING GO!!

I have never played a softer game in my life - EEEVVVVAAARRRRRRR!!

I used to LOL at people who go and your all like "DID YOU WIN?" and they are inevitably like "YEH OF COURSE IT'S SO SOFT" but foreelz they weren't even exaggerating at all.

I WAS THERE 5 DAYS AND:

- I got 15 hours sleep

- I drank at least 50 (free) White russians (amongst other things)

- I met loads of nice people

- I went to one wedding

- I PLAYED A LOT OF POKER

- BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY I WON SOME FUCKING MONEY!!

I have taken select images below for your viewing pleasure which I think sum up the trip (AND SUBSEQUENT RETURNS TO THE UNITED KINGDOM)

The pounds I took with

The dollars I got in return

Arrival

The first casino I walked in

The View

The cash I took home

Final Table Bum - Rendezvous casino Brighton, UK Main event £220

Final 4 players main event - 3/4 chips in play

Main event champion - FK the trophy send the cash - Blue bags are £1k Yellow bag is £2.5k

So yeh - basically in two weeks I won roughly $14k in live events and cash - not to mention the obscene amounts of cash I spent in Vegas for my cousins wedding etc.

As you may have gathered, on my return to the UK some friends were playing the main event of a poker festival at my local casino and feeling pretty cool after Vegas I decided to spin and I shipped the bitch - MUST BE NICE!!

THEREFORE

I have adjusted my graph to show my baller skills - P.S. I actually ended this week(s) up but my HEM doesn't show omaha winnings - the actual online winnings this week was roughly $200.

HERE IS THE GRAPH:

$14,000 Profit incl. RB // $41 an hour - obv if was playing every hour of the last 2 weeks (Fuck Yeh!)

I will spare you the chit chat because too much happened to put in the normal categories - so I guess all I have to say is...

Good luck at the tables and remember to...

Just keep swimming :f_p:

Hello all!!

Just a post to say that I will be concluding this blog here.

I really enjoyed writing this blog and I can honestly say my poker (both online and live and at every level from NL $5 all the way to Nl £500) has improved more since writing this blog than ever in my poker history.

All in all it has been a seriously successful couple months but unfortunately I must draw it to a close as I have a new challenge starting!!

I will be documenting my new adventure here:

Thailand or Busto - Whichever comes first

More details at the link above!!

Final thoughts - I would highly recommend that anyone learning or even more experienced players start a blog and commit to a decent number of updates.

Thanks for following and the positive feedback - Hope to see everyone at the other, probably slightly more exciting, blog when I get a chance to get started.

But always remember,

Just keep swimming!! :f_p:
