4bet pre is much better than flatting this hand. you can flat more KQ/KJ types.

I definnitely call river. He probably perceives you as weak tight because you haven't played back at him. He also isn't repping much after he checks this turn. Jx and flush draws would bet IMO. So the only value-hand is 99 or 98.

I have a question about 4betting/flatting range.
I always thought it was the other way around, i.e. it is better to flat suited connectors, as i will have more playability vs his value range, and be dominated less often, whereas with hands like KQo, KJo, ofsuit aces i will be more often dominated by AK AQ etc. and i have a blocker for the 4bet/fold bluff.

I would fold preflop. Too weak hand to defend with call and it has no blocker value so I dont see much point in 4betting. Basically this is probably bottom of your iso raise range so I dont see any problem in folding. Plus your position is quite early, which likely somewhat tightens his 3bet range.

Postflop it depends of his habits. If he sees you as floating type he can be also looking for check-shove decently often with turn check.

I don't think a hand like T8s will stand up to post-flop aggression often enough to flat, however a higher SC or broadway combo will more often get to call 2 barrels and see a river.

My thoughts are taking the 'safer' EV play vs a very strong player and simply 4betting. In order to make EV from flatting speculative hands you need to outplay post-flop and doing this vs one of the best high-stakes regs in the games is going to be tough.

Certainly flatting will be better against a weaker player.

folding also fine obviously, we have T high.

Take what I say with caution however, it has been a while since I have dealt with 75bb lines and I could be completely wrong. Just my opinion on the situation. Might be worth contacting one of the cash game coaches and getting an opinion on the theory in this spot regarding flatting vs 4betting and where we can get more value ITLR.
