PokerStars - $0.50 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 85 BB (VPIP: -, PFR: -, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 1)
SB: 113.44 BB (VPIP: 21.80, PFR: 17.07, 3Bet Preflop: 7.17, Hands: 1,277)

CO: 137.98 BB (VPIP: 21.92, PFR: 17.12, 3Bet Preflop: 6.82, Hands: 450)

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has A♥ K♦

fold, fold, fold, BTN calls 1 BB, fold, Hero raises to 5 BB, BTN calls 4 BB

Flop: (10.5 BB, 2 players) 6♣ T♦ J♥
Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: (10.5 BB, 2 players) 6♠
Hero checks, BTN checks

River: (10.5 BB, 2 players) Q♦
Hero bets 7 BB, BTN raises to 14 BB, Hero raises to 118.82 BB and is all-in, BTN calls 66 BB and is all-in

is shove ok? I think he can raise/c 2 pairs, worse straights, 6x?

Hey GingerKid,

Preflop iso-raise is fine.

I think x/c should be fine on flop vs fish opponent. We still have some pot equity but possibly not that much FE + we don't really mind if villain checks back flop in this situation.

Turn is fine.

River shove is fine. We don't want to risk losing value by not shoving. Fishy opponent nearly always has a value hand when he raises river and it's unlikely he's folding that much unless he picks up a timing tell and decides to hero fold or something. I usually avoid snap-shoving but it might just be superstition.

With snap shoving, you mean that if someone snap shoves vs raise it is like 100% apsolute nuts? Yeah, makes sense, was not thinking about this, and I often snap shove, but I still doubt somebody folds made hand even though they notice snap shove.

I'm not 100% sure if I'm just being paranoid.

But particularly fish, I think it's possible to spook them with a snap-shove, inducing hero folds.

E.g one of my preflop reads is the 3x 4bet from fish. Nearly always strong value, nearly always calling. So I started snap shoving and noticed I was getting occasional folds - and really wouldn't surprise me if villain hero folds AK/QQ.

Anyway, could just be superstition might I keep my timing a little balanced even vs fish these days.

Lol for 4bet vs fish :)
I dont think fish are able to fold it, and if it happens occasional, it was probably bluff.

I usually use time tell for 4bet, when somebody thinks longer and 4bets, It is very often a bluff because they need time to look at my positional 3bet and fold vs 4bet which takes some seconds. So I 5bet shove only when this happens, and when I see snap 4bet, it is almost always value.

also postflop multiway when you cbet and player takes some time to and think it is usually marginal hand which will fold turn, because top pairs and draws call faster. Off course this all could be because he is distracted or has fake timing, but still it is one more thing which helps us in exploits.

Do you have some more interesting superstitions to share :)

Cool, some interesting ideas :)

Nothing comes to mind off-hand. Just regular timing tell stuff.

Sometimes I think it's possible to rep being on tilt with the snap 3barrel

Didnt think about 3barrel being a tilt, wonderign how many players see it that way, but yeah makes sense. Probably 3 snap barrels are polarized at least, because many medium hand strenght hands would have to think at least.

Yeah exactly

I think when you are obviously tanking and really think about the best line, villain is more scared to call because he knows your bet is the product of conscious thought.

When you clearly appear to not be even thinking about your decision I think villain may realise on some level that the quality of your play is going to be lower and he's less scared to get involved as a result.

I also use that one. If I have bluff catcher and someone thinks, it is at least not a spew, and hardly a bluff so I fold. Might not be true if someone tries playing balanced and calculates the combinations for bluffs but at least we can totally say he is not on tilt which decreases our EV.

Yup exactly. People rarely tank for 10 seconds before they tilt-shove
