I don't remember which limit this hand was played at so am just going to write in BB. Assume 100BB stacks. I'm ignoring rake because it makes things complicated.

4-Handed
Dealt to SB Hero (A :diamond:J :diamond:)

Preflop:
CO fold, BU Calls, Hero Isolates to 4BB, BB folds, BU Calls

Flop: 9.5BB 9 :spade:7 :diamond:2 :club:

Hero bet 5.5BB, BU Calls

Turn: 20.5BB 8 :spade:

Hero Checks, BU Checks

River: 20.5BB K :spade:

Hero?????

It feels like this spot must come up fairly often, so we should be able to gain an edge by working out how often we want to stab versus an average opponent and what reads we will want to adapt our range/ how we adapt it.

Hey DaPhunk,

Preflop iso-raise is good here.

Usually when we are playing vs a limp-caller its a good idea to cbet very frequently (we don't need to be worried about cbetting too much vs this type of opponent).

However often when this type of player calls flop they are indicating that they are potentially interested in the board and we may find that our turn fold-equity is not that high. Turn check is fine.

I would just give up on river here, especially when we have A-high but certainly it can be good to lead our weaker holdings on this board runout.
