Early morning update ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz............

I have been doing some 'math' (math's for you English speakers) and have roughly worked out that at my current BB/100 of 15/100 hands I can be taking shots at NL4 in around 4 weeks, or 30 hours, or 12,000 hands. That is if this BB/100 is sustainable which I can't see why not. The bright lights NL4, look at me eh.

I understand that with NL4 status comes a lot of pressure and maybe media attention but I can handle it. I've grown up a lot since the birth of my daughter and have no desire to succumb to the trappings of the high roller lifestyle!!!

So my goals for the coming month are:

Try to get in 12,000 hands by end of October (instead of 4 weeks)

Do you know what, scrap that. I'm not in a rush and need time to study too. So I will take my time and just play it as it comes. Ramble makes a good point:

When you are truly motivated by enjoyment instead of by expectations or results - you tend to approach it with a much better mind-set. This allowed me to have a much longer term view of my progress than expecting to climb the stakes really fast. I ended up climbing the stakes faster when I stopped caring about climbing stakes.

I agree totally with this and I am enjoying my journey. I need to prove to myself that I can cut it at the lowest of stakes and not pretend I am some kind of Baller!

That is a very good statement Jim when you isolate it! The makings of a future coach/inspirational speaker???

My revised goals for the month are:

Keep changing nappies
Try to sleep more
Play poker when chores are done and maybe I'll progress this month or next or the next!
Make time to study (hand reading/range work mostly)

I also have a live tourney coming up at the end of this month at my local. It will be great to get out there and socialise again.

Best of luck guys :f_thumbsup:

I'm sure you'll reach the lofty heights of NL4 soon. In the meantime, keep changing those nappies :f_love:

I am thinking of signing up to the bank roll challenge!!!

Get Rich or Die Tryin' - The Bankroll Challenge - Opt-in now!

Nar........... probably not..............things going okay for now and possibly moving up next month.

Kind of wished I'd done this sooner (played sensibly within my BR and skill level  ) as I'm really enjoying it. I'll probably get smacked round the face when I do move up. This games very good at that!!!

Work going well, little one doing well and poker going well.......life is pretty good right now!

Itching to play live and get a package going again but will probably be next year now. Apart from my live one end of this month.

GL all :f_thumbsup:

Hi John

Good to see you're doing well. Belated congrats on the new addition to your family!

I might be starting up poker again, playing 6max cash. I'll keep you updated and perhaps we should do a skype session at some point (if you can fit it in )

Thanks Paul

Great to see you back!

I may switch to 6max but find it a bit hectic multi tabling. The slow pace of FR is suiting me just fine for now as there's a good mix of 'Rocks' and 'maniacs' to exploit. Variance is low and I'm experiencing an upward trend to my graph which is always nice :f_biggrin:

I shall look forward to future Skype sessions for sure.

I've been thinking about doing this as well - nice thing is there is no pressure since it doesn't seem to be time sensitive. The only real commitment is the blogging updates...

October comes to an end and time is flying!!!

Betsy is already 6 weeks old and I'm getting older and fatter.

Another decent month at NL2 which should see me moving up in the next few weeks. As previously said I'll get to 30K hands then see where I'm at.

Slow progress but managed to maintain 18bb/100 which I'm happy with. I'm just grabbing an hour here and an hour there when time allows. Watching the odd video and reading the odd book. Playing really has helped. Since switching from SNGs I have learnt so much just playing so many hands. I know 12K hands a month isn't huge but it has helped with what I consider to be actual poker play.

It has however made me realise what a joke playing live is. As I once heard "for some live players variance will never even itself out" is a stark realisation of the game for recreational live players. I played live cash the other week and it was pretty boring!

So this weekend I'm playing my local in a £75 10K gtd tourney which should be fun.

Here is my graph for this month

Over all (Since September 1st)

Was going to join the bank roll challenge but can't be arsed to commit.

Wow, Solid graph!

Glad to see you're having fun playing cash too.. I don't think i've seen so many turns and rivers in my life (at least ones where I'm not already all in preflop )

Very sexy indeed. Take a 10BI shot at NL5 as a reward. _biggrin: 18BBs/100h is crushing. _thumbsup:

It wasn't meant to be a pop at SNGs. It's just so different. Wrong decisions don't cost you your whole stack often. Tilt factor is low and variance also low. As Paul said, seeing flop turn and river is a welcome change. The main thing for me right now is the ability to sit out quickly and help out with the little one.
Having 6 SNGs on the go, heads up in two, bubble in two would just be a recipe for disaster with a ticking poo bomb in the house!

I will be taking a shot this month for sure Lazza :f_thumbsup:

Lol, I haven't lost any lb's as yet. So goal should be to hit 170lbs as I may balloon.

So hit 170lbs by midnight 24th December.

That graph is so nice that it makes me feel a little bad for moving up to NL5 with an overall 5bb/100 winrate in NL2

I suppose I'm just enjoying playing and looking for ways to exploit playing styles.

I'm not focussing on the money at all. I could easily deposit 1K from my live roll (not a brag) and pretend I'm a 25/50NL player but I'm not!

Best advice at these limits I've found is to try and extract max value with big hands!

My sample size is still very small and building a solid HUD database and identifying regs is so important at NL.
