Laptop sound not working

Nah I know its not a volume issue, everything is up full, and I've checked umpteen times.

It's still under warranty i think, as it's less than a year old. I'll pack it up and bring it back to PC world.

Might try Lenovo support first though, just in case. I'd hate to be without a laptop for a while.

Sincere thanks for the effort guys. If anybody has any aha! moments let me know, I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Just logged into my administrator account and the sound works perfect. So it works on one account, not the other.

Now I'm very confused...

It can't be a hardware issue, so the PC isn't broken. I don't know...

And now audio and videos work on admin account and standard user account (which is the one I always use).

Problem solved so far...

Wierd...

Glad to hear it is OK now -- keep an eye out for anything different.

Best of luck,

Never were truer words spoken!

The problem persists so I will take my laptop back to the store and complain.

Thanks for the time you all put in here guys.

So just an update for anybody have a similar issue.

I've just updated to Windows 8.1 and it seems to have resolved the issue. Again, my laptop has fooled me like this before, as a restart or switching on the machine after it's been idle for a day or so often seemed to "fix" the problem, only to have the sound go again after five minutes or so.

Hopefully its good now, though I did get a vague pop up on my admin account that "shockwave plugin" is not working properly.

If the update hasn't fixed the problem, shockwave plugin is next to be examined.

Seems to be an endless list of possibilities here. Another one seems to pop up after I've looked at the last one.
