x/raise or donk?

Check-raise flop. It is wrong to be result-oriented, but this hand illustrates perfectly why a check-raise is superior to the donk. You would probably have won this pot because the CO cannot draw with J9 here facing two bets (if he does it is even better for you in the long run).

Yes, but it is not set in stone. There are situations (3-ways or more) when a donk is motivated. This can be when there is a big chance the flop will get checked back by the preflop aggressor (and you don't want that to happen). This can happen also heads-up versus a good player that doesn't c-bet 90%+ (but almost all do just that).

Actually the J9s had a flush draw so he is always calling but i agree with Yohann and would also like to add that you can also donk-3bet which can be useful in some multiway pots for example where the preflop raiser is overaggressive postflop type and by raising he makes it expensive for other players to continue esp with mid pairs and gutshots that have outs against you that way you can thin out the field and actually get value from his over-light raises.

Right. What noraflora describes is not ABC poker, but more advanced. These situations can be recognized with a little experience.
