I donk-bet the river with my flush.

Like you played I prefer a cold-call on the river when the button raises becouse a higher flush is possible and you call for overcall

I prefer a riverdonk aswell.

I don't think better hands fold the flop against a check/raise.

As you missed the C/R at flop, you should have donk/call the turn.

Donk/call wouldn't be my line, you won't win the pot a lot and you don't have an equity edge (only if all of them call).

And with the c/r you can get some implied fold equity if bad cards come on the board. You only have 8 high, so they will fold worse hands on later streets.

I like a donk on the river more as well. Your flush was hidden really good. I saw the straight only. ♦

The problem is that they checked the flop so they won't have a strong hand that often which increases the chance of a free showdown at the river.

On the flop you can make a lot worse hands like 9-Q high to fold either directly or on the turn so this is a very good spot to do so.

Betting the hand on the turn after the check behind isn't that bad. You have 15 outs ~ 33% equity + fold equity against better hands so this is indeed possible here.
