Well hello there guys
After I burned out I played just some 17k hands in 20 days
And had pals from Scotland/France staying with me. I haven't seen them in 2 years, so had to show them how we roll in Prague.
And me being off booze for a few weeks turned in the most beers I've drunk in a week probably ever, and it turned in a proper (deserved I hope :)) Holiday

Ended by pokerstrategy Czech Community Party - there are some cool guys there for sure I hope to get more involved with them :)

I actually had a bit too much, excited at 12pm, took a nap at concrete at a tram station and lost my phone afterwards :D

With We did stuff like
Wall climbing

Spoiler

Fun fair shooting
(got 2 roses out of 6 shots, run good yay!)

Spoiler

bowling (got 9 some in one shot some 7 times in 2 games. never a strike. Bowling Variance too high)
Even this one was just a 9, and I gave it everything I had with the heaviest ball D:

Spoiler

Hoegarden was drunk along with many beers

Spoiler

Took my lady to the zoo
Here's my staring contest with an Eagle:

Spoiler

and here's here playing with the kids and me checking out her butt ;p

Spoiler

Week20
Watched a great Jay Cutler Video.

Main takeaways
- when I feel like playing, I should drop all else, and just play. And do other stuff when I don't happen to enjoy the main thing I'm doing
- It's perfectly fine to have open scheduling, it's just important to put the work in no matter when
- no golden pill, all dedication, hard work no overthinking (They all take steroids, but it's a level playing field)

I cashed out loads for my shenanigans in prague
played just 17k hands in 20days before the start of the week
So last week was pretty much just
- gym. Hardcore, every day with one rest day. It was painful at start because of the drinking, but for every action there is reaction, and when I was boozing one week, I have to get through the pain the next
- poker
- no alcohol, lots of good food+rest
- just a date, went out with my friend

I actually played 22,550 hands, the most all year in a week. Not sure how many hours even as I won't wait for the report to wait - goal is to play as much as I can pretty much, I feel thirst for poker again which is awesome. When I got overwhelmed (normal when upping volumes) I just lied down, took a quick nap and when I rose I was back at it (moved down if didn't feel well or when I was tired)
So my bankroll actually increased despite heavy cashouts

Week21 Goals
-hardcore poker/gym mode.

Had a date yesterday as the girl I'm dating had her birthday (cooked steak together, went to the top of an old lookout in the woods to relase flying lanterns+have bubbly/picnic )
But besides that no goals, at least 30hrs poker and 6*gym should be a given though. It's good to focus on just that for a while for sure :)

Week21
- I was ill. Didn't notice until yesterday's coaching where I started losing my voice - I assumed I was just tired and sweating heavily because of the heat ha
Still managed to
1) go on a date
paddle boats baby

2) eat some raw korean food in a restaurant that we had to cook ourselves
3) Release flying lanterns at night

even managed 2x gym

and 13,594 hands of poker.
But especially over the weekend I was tilting as hell as I was tired and couldn't excercise. So I dropped down to NL16 for a bit and will move back up when I get my groove back.

Week22
[ ]20hrs
[ ] 2 dates
[ ] Study + refine BvB strategy for Monday's coaching, including viability of limping BvB

W22
27hrs
17,656hands

runbad at highest stakes - this is the worst 15BI week in history money wise :D
Rent +expenses cashout came, so will withdraw quite a bit

Rope Park
So the girl I'm dating gave me a taste of my own medicine. And bought a voucher for an activity and didn't tell me what it was.
Turned out tr was a rope park. I am scared of heights. And she knows it :) Still managed to overcome fear+focused on physical climbing/obstacles and it went well.

Maybe I'll try bungee one day

Prague Pride
Went between sessions. They even had a gay horse!

Edible Body Paint night with my'lady
That's NSF not just work but anything, it'd be really hard to convince anyone it was chocolate, I'll leave it at that :D

BvB stuff
I looked at BvB in preparation for Today's coaching
https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=2091337#post2091337
Thx D2 for the input
BB ranges are really wide even when I put in a conservative R for weak hands - definitely an eye opener, especially at small stakes where everyone steals too much pretty much :O

Diary
Double2 told me that ages ago on podcast, but only last couple months I've been keeping diary.
Now I've added some 1.5hour blocks before bed where I turn off computer, and all distractions. And just sit down+walk around in my room and think on paper.
Got stuff like this

That's a good mental game page. Now after each day you have to write to yourself if you managed to do that.

Thanks, I didn't really write down actions though
I need to address the right column, always thought the left one is the problem, but it's just a symptom caused by the right one.
Doubt I can just switch focus on playing each spot individually right off the bat
So I will break it down into small actionable steps First one being:
I will check BR just once per day after it's finished instead of every session
for the rest of the week, and write down progress on that.

Week23
12.967 hands 4bb/100

I will opt out of the BR challenge after this week
The reason is simple: The Get rich or die trying helps me tremendously with volume and motivation.
But I do check my results way more often than I should, so main mental game action point of next few weeks will be to de-sanitize myself from them.
I will re-enter the BR challenge when I manage to go a full week without checking my cashier.

It's all about moving towards playing one hand at a time as well as I can, and being results oriented takes a lot of resources away from that.

I will keep updates every monday of course, just won't mention results, bankroll etc. and focus on mental game, hands, and hours played instead.

Last week stuff
- loosened up extremely in BB, the winrate suffered, but I am getting into tougher spots and the samples are small. The R theory is certainly sound and I want to be able to play as high as possible so I will keep larger samples and re-evaluate my strategy then. It's possible that the impact of rake will be higher than expected - but my ambition is of course to play as well as I can and move up eventually.
See here: https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=2090477#post2090477

It's really all about striking balance between immediate and long term EV.

week
Played squash, it w as fun, I got to practice my left hand to level the playing field :)
My 15y old little cousin from the US visited
So naturally went to a cafe to play some mortal combat - that's what tourists want to see in prague right?
visited hometown
it was my pal's birthday

Next week goals:
1) coaching
Spotlight yay! It's fun getting to know people from the beginner community - we will have followthesmartmoney joining us live!
2) Focus on avoiding cashier
3) Show - We have lackoo coming in, to focus on rebuilding from busto, tankroll and holiday BRM etc. Lackoo is Hilarious, make sure you guys join us!
4) Work on calling in the Big Blind stuff some more - filters, hands, videos, discussions ... what have you.

Great to see you in good shape here with a happy life, thanks again for helping me to improve my game! And I also look way too much on cashier during the game! This is a leak I have to get rid off too!

Prague is so beautiful, one day I definitely want to visit it!

Love your conclusion from the mental game writings, you just pointed it out in just one sentence: This hand is all that matters now!

Grind on my friend! :f_thumbsup:

Oh thanks for popping by. It actually might be more complex with the Cashier, I'll make a post later. There are reasons why I put myself under pressure by checking it/making myself stress about my performance/money but that'll be for a longer post later.
Really liked W34Z3l's analogy of a guy giving you 50 hands in a database telling you to analyze it - I will write down a lot more about my mental game to get larger sample sizes, and really get to know myself.

I made an exit from the HU championship
Fast structure, running bad at flips and me not being so good around 10-11BB it can be summed up. I made a live commentary of the match here:

LAST WEEK
1) Went on a date to a local preserve with this thing from the 15th Century

Fun date with eating a big ass pizza at a tram stop, and climb to the top of Prague's petrin tower (The Poor Man's Eiffel Tower)
We also managed to find a lost diary by a very sexually confused guy, and as we have integrity we of course have disposed of it or looked him up and handed it over.
Just kidding, we went to a pub and sifted through the whole thing :D

2) My pal invited me to a mongolian night out. basically 30 guys and chicks from Mongolia, speaking mongolian. And Me. We played beach volleyball at midnight and some solid spin the bottle with translations later, it was lots of fun :)

3) I went to a local picnic with free stuff, shows. I even went on and decorated my own cupcake. Behold

I'm still listening to The Wisdom of Psychopaths Through looking back at my history in various endeavors I discovered that I

I achieve flow states best when pressed against the wall, when all is at stake, when I'm staring into the face of impending doom. That's when I tap into my awesome survivalist power and become capable of incredible feats

Basically I'm motivated by seeing the bottom not by reaching to the top (of which psychopaths are an extreme example as the ones with tuned dials to the maximum ignore risk and punishment altogether) and always have . Question is whether I just accept that and keep putting pressure on myself in smart ways, manipulating anxiety levels to my advantage as needed, or if I try to slowly change my nature over time and attempt at becoming more gain oriented. The answer probably is a combination of both. This is one of the reasons why I keep checking cashier, and learn the most and put in the most volume when in a downswing generally, as the pressure's on me and it actually might not be a bad thing for my immediate EV.

August Graph
I'm happy with volume, after playing 17k hands in 3 weeks in July I played lots of masstabling+4table zoom and replenished my bankroll
This is about 103Hrs

September will be a lot more about quality play, as I work on my personal motivation and hopefully become more motivated towards moving up instead of avoiding the bottom and I should also gear my game towards highest quality, lower volume approach at highest stakes possible with the widest range of mental states as possible as well.

By the way great props to W34Z3L and his mental game coaching, I will paraphrase a quote by him:

you woulnd't submit a database of 50 hands to someone for analysis would you. Yet people analyze their mental game based on isolated thoughts and incidents of which they hardly keep any records

I'm spending a great deal of time writing my thoughts down (credit to Double2) and having time to just think as it's a big part of poker, and it's definitely helped.

Most people are driven mostly by fear of loss, are anxious all the time, and actually need anxiety to perform at optimal levels, some more than others. This is my notes from last couple chapters from his book

In the book , Dutton outlined "7 Deadly winds" of psychopaths:
1) Ruthlessness
2) Charm
3) Focus
4) Mental Toughness
5) Fearlessness
6) Mindfulness
7) Action

People spend too much time thinking about what might go wrong, that they don't really live in the present moment. Living in the past or too much in the future makes the present decisions sub-optimal. E.g. people were faced with 20 coin flips where the payouts were -$1 and +$1.5. Normal people stopped taking flips most of the time at some point to "preserve winnings". Psychopaths took all 20 flips, and in another study didn't have issues with e.g. killing one person to save 3 others etc.

He argues that psychopathy is very useful in the stressful modern world, more so in professions like: Surgeon, Lawyer, Stock Broker, Poker player...
The key is becoming a Method Psychopath Capable of stepping into these qualities when required, but still being capable of restraint so you don't end up chopping random virgins into pieces yet can navigate in the stressful modern world.

He draws the parallel with sports psychology and flow, where top golfers state e.g.

Play like it is nothing when it means everything. Let go of mistakes in your head, even good shots, just focus on the next one. And forget about consequences as well
That's why athletes set e.g. process goals - it forces them to focus on the present moment and forget about the distractions of the past and the future.

Psychopaths have a natural talent for such things. For example, when they are faced with an extreme situation their heart rate goes DOWN slightly, and so do other tests - they are gearing themselves up to the challenge. They also solely focus on the task at hand, often not even seeing the threats they could be fearful of - they are not courageous as they have nothing to fear, they just see the things needed to do in order to get what they want.

THE FULL CIRCLE
So what does Dutton Recommend you do in order to be capable to act more as a psychopath?
Yep. It's pretty much the first mental game material I came across, and what tons of nosebleed players are doing According to Ike Haxton - mindfulness and meditation.

The practice of right mindfullness constitutes the sevenths step of the noble path, one of the teachings of Buddha written some 2500 years ago.
The Mind is deliberately capped at the level of bare attention, a detached observation of what is happening within us and around us in the present moment. In the practice of right mindfulness the mind is trained to remained in the present, open, quiet and alert contemplating the present event. All judgments and interpretations have to be suspended, or if they occur, just registered and dropped. Such training consistently applied eventually leads to the arising of insight and the qualities of dispassion, non-clinging and release. Psychopaths possess such qualities naturally.

Mindfulness based intervention has been shown to be a particularly effective meta-cognitive strategy when dealing with the symptoms of anxiety and depression, two conditions that psychopaths are singularly immune to. The therapy uses Buddhist teachings, but adds a kind-of Naive child like inquisitiveness which is strongly reminiscent of the core "openness to Experience" factor of the big 5 personality structure of which psychopaths score very high on. Anchor the thoughts entirely in the present, screen out the chatter of the past and the elusive future and anxiety begins to subside, perception begins to sharpen, and the question becomes one of utility, what we do with this NOW, this enormous, emphatic present, once we have it. Do we savor the moment like a saint or seize it like a psychopath. Do we reflect on the nature of experience or do we focus our focus entirely on ourselves, the the pursuit of instant gratification.

A study was mentioned of an emotional response test, where they simulated an explosion next to you. There was a reaction in every person, but hardcore Buddhist monks performing one of their meditation techniques - they were able to observe the thought, even notice it more clearly than others, but the measured reaction was miles lower than anyone else.

So the solution to be able to acquire the positive qualities of psychopaths seems to be mindfulness, living in the present moment - being aware of your emotions but merely observing them I see it now where I got hit by a fast and quick downswing, prolly worst week BI wise in over a year. The biggest effect is in that has is that it throws me off the focus on the present moment, on playing my hand as well as I can with distracting thoughts of past and projecting fear into the future - something a psychopath or a skilled Buddhist monk would never do. And it's the same when interacting with people, (chicks especially - In a podcast a PUA from "The Game" itself recommended meditation leading to aware situational openers as a way to go) Failing that, the last piece of advice came from a psychopath in a mental institution: The trick is mindfulness, or ,failing that, abusing your imagination into "What if I didn't feel this fearful way" and do the right thing anyway.

My little notes made on phone as I was listening to the book if you are interested

Spoiler

wisdom
sad people rember more
surgeons are psychopaths. in alternative universe murderer can be a surgeon or world leadee
disorders can be helpful - nash psychotic
women were physically weaker- evolutionary thet had to develop emotional radar to recognise dangerous ppl like psychopats.
they unedrstand and recognise emotion, but dont feel it.
utalitarian(stuart mill, bentham) people - psychopaths. fat guy train dillema

inhaling sweat from 1st time skydivers made fear part of brain 40pct more active in testee ppl uner rmri scanner. psychopaths are unaffected. they dont have anxiety and are unaffected by what others think.

buddhist monks might be psychopaths -unaffected by others, only filled with compassion.
emotion by numbers
full longboat wreck- ps. decidef fast.

herding - animals when threatened huddled up together, so do ppl. stock - go "irrationally" vs the herd

bond - psychopath

self disclosure meets reciprocity.

distracting quickly will make the person forget they told us stuff

psychopaths are driven by reward, learn slower when threaten by punishment than normal people, (reverse of behavioral value function curve?!!). dopamine reward 4x higher induced by promise of reward. true psychopaths seek reward at any cost, with intense focus.

psychopaths have talent at recognising emotion. they know what it is not what it's like. they dont feel anxiety.

moderate psychopathic traits most succesfull

extreme persuasion radio show

give rejection the finge and rejection gives it back - pickup, racking up rejection.

mental toughness - what if you dont need courage as you dont have fear. courage is just emotional blood doping.

people spend too much time thinking about what might go wrong, that they don't really live in the present moment.

the trick is mindfullness, or use imagination " what if I didnt feel this fearful way, and do it anyways".

living in the past makes present sub optimal - e.g. the plus ev coimflip where people preserve winnings instead of maxing ev

paychopaths never procrastinate as they don't project fear of future

7deadly winds:
1) ruthlessneas
2) charm
3) focus
4)mental toughness
5)fearlessness
6)mindfullness
7)action

Method psychopath- capable of stepping into these qualities as needed.

st paul psychopath- changing to jews, law, outlaws,poor...

stoicism is coveted under pressure

play like it is nothing when it means everything. let go of mistakes or good shots just focus on the next one. forget about consequences.

process goals force athlete to focus and forget about other things.

they focus on task, not seeing a threat. ropes, focused on climbing, ignored fear.

P.S. I'm glad I finished this thing. It was a great listen, but there's loads of moral dilemmas like "would you strangle your own infant if it's crying, you and other jews are in a basement and if you don't the Nazi's are sure to found you out and kill the whole group" and I'm all about trying to feed my mind with constructive and positive thoughts, and it was pretty draining.
Just to mention: I got the tip from the book from this podcast on confidence and Anxiety, that changed my approach towards life to a very large degree:

The real challenge would be to gather a table full of Pokerstrategy regs and play 6-max for tankrolls, only one or (seldom) two of the players wouldn't go busto :f_cool: Of course tankroll management relies heavily on both the softness of the microstakes and the previously acquired proficiency of the player at the format.

One doesn't have to start at a new site, can just transfer almost all the poker balance to the sportsbook and start rolling from €20 or so.

I don't dare do this in 2-card cash that I've never played professionally, but in Twister, I might try it on one of my old iPoker accounts when I run out of bonuses elsewhere if I'm bored enough.

Leave aside PKR's $0.30 jackpots and Stars' upcoming $0.25 Spins (whose euro versions have appeared in Spain and France) - $10 is already 33-40 BIs, must be enough in those ridiculous fields.

It started as advice for women, but Dan Munro focuses on general social confidence - I'd listen to the 3 podcasts in Menprovement where he's featured, they changed my approach to everything, but as I was so bad with women that's where I saw it the most :)

And lol - we are always making jokes like I must have arthritis, I tell her about the good old days etc. as She's freshly 21 and I'm 28 :)

I plan on playing 7-10 hrs pw only anyways

and I'm pretty sure if it was 6 pokerstrategists playing each other with $150, all of them would go broke because of micro rake ;p

By the way I took the conclusions of the book very seriously, as I want to eventually be driven be pursuit of maximizing utility/seizing the moment instead of anxiety.
And when I went to meet the lady as she was picking up something I did walking meditation for some 20 minutes - at first it's hard to focus, it doesn't do anything but they you start noticing the wind, people around you, movements of your body, thoughts coming in and out of your head... I didn't do full cycle of counting breath from 300 to 0 (some 15 mins) in like half a year, I was almost incapable of it.

The memories of past cool meditations came back (night ones at an empty athletics stadium, at a party outside at 4am, mindful walk in Edinburgh, Kwan Um Zen stuff, waiting for the tram at the gym and meditating...) and I was in that state after a very long time. I started noticing little things, like the structure of a seashell on my wall, a big ass painting in the living room I never even noticed it was there, how I feel with her lying next to me...suddenly you stop having the goal of getting in her pants, just enjoy the feeling ...

When I kept smiling for an hour and pointed out jovially that I hear 3 crickets and pointed at their directions she very nonchalantly asked me when was the last time I tried pot :P And it made her uncomfortable she just assumed I'm thinking hard and being silent on purpose where I was just overwhelmed with the returned senses of consciousness (much like me, she overthinks stuff a ton).

So after noticing random stuff and people, pointing out signs I never noticed before to her we went to her buss station. And there was a guy lying on the ground passed out there. Usually I'd let it be/stay away but in the moment I just went for it, asked him what's up, and then asked a stranger to help us pull him to a nearby bench. he got happy after talking to me, shitfaced of course, but we left him to his own devices. Like 3 minutes later he started pissing, right on that bench. 5 Minutes later he stood up and went home, only to lie down in the middle of the road again, telling us he's waiting to get run over. Again I persuaded him to let me drag him to the sidewalk, and called the police and waited for their arrival to help him go home, to what he claimed was his wife, for whom he had 2L of $1 wine in a plastic bag as a present apparently :D

Obviously I asked my girl and the stranger to take a picture with the guy (well before he pissed sitting on the very bench)

The conclusions of the book make a lot of sense, in that state I just went for it, looking at a painting or approaching a dirty guy lying with a plastic bag on the street just felt like the same thing and consequences didn't really enter my mind (he could have been dangerous/on drugs, I had my girl with me, I gain nothing tangent by helping...) - but it was the right thing to do.

Hehe, actually, I have $30 left to spin up in a busted account (which I'm committed to because I need to rake $10 more to earn a $5 bonus chunk), but they're at a non-partner site :f_tongue: Also, I have around €50 at William Hill and €100-150 at Titan, from my vague recollection, but no good rewards there.
