finished 14/1500 in a $16.5 tournament last night which put me in the green for the evening. Went out on a standard spot. ALl in all I am relatively happy with the outcome because I was far from playing my a-game yesterday.

I am also quite happy to be back in the top 5k on Pocketfives. I just need to be in the top 1k now :)

not one cash... a few KOs but minors... dreadful.. I did not play bad. I made a couple of mistakes but nothing horrendous. The field was also one of the weakest I had seen in a while. I got called by all sort. I did not bluff much, but man, they can hit the board.

Tomorrow will be another day .

I had a really bad week playing. Could not flip to save a life. So lost pretty much every day :(.
I also made more mistake than usual ... I was not on a game. I might take a couple of days off from the tables to focus. but again I might not :P

97 MTTs
Profit/Loss: `-$658.74
Current BR: $1,341.26
Week 1

Next week will be better ;)

I've heard that some kilofield MTT pros mix MTSnGs or small field MTTs in 'to alleviate the variance', though the risk-adjusted EV is smaller there...

I previously thought that such a strategy was silly (because usually, the game with the biggest risk-adjusted EV should be picked), but now I reckon that it might be actually wise because 1) the softest of MTTs aren't always available (they run on Sundays / special occasions only), 2) mixing in lower variance tourneys makes the overall winnings probability distribution more skew-positive: essentially, the everyday grind gives one some winnings that can be reinvested into the Sunday / reds shot, resulting in a substantial discount on its total buy-in.

I'm talking about e.g. grinding $2.50 turbo 180-mans / $5 PSKO turbo 90-mans during the week and then investing all the winnings (like $300) into a cherry-picked Sunday schedule (like $600 total buy-in, which becomes just $300 after the MTSnG winnings are reinvested) instead of reducing the ABI dramatically.

Thoughts?

:gl:

From today, I will drop the $27 tournaments, and if the loss continue I will keep dropping hte higher buy ins

I want to set myself a few goals for 2016 on top of monetary goals.

In no particular order:

1) Read a book a month ( I normally don't read books at all) on topics related to poker, mindfulness, self improvement, management, programming and different IT subjects in general

book for this month:

hopefully I'll find the time to put some review and post some hands in my blogs (I will ask the authors permission before doing so)

2) review 3 hands daily on this site and in the hand review section (can be CG or tournaments) just to keep the thinking sharp.

3) complete the daily mission for the cash game quests on Pokerstars to get each daily bonus. (hoping to bink the 1 / 100000 chance of hitting $100K instant bonus :) , because why not!

4) play 250 tournament a month ( that's gonna be the hardest to fit with everything else- but still need to aim at it)

5) update blog at least every other day ( i am so bad at it - it's gonna be hard just because most of the time I CBA - but I need to instigate some discipline and that's one of the things that will help)

6) wake up at 5:30 on weekdays and before 9:00 on weekends (ideally around 7:00). I onrder to achieve this, I will need to not go to bed too late unless deep in a tournament.

7) work on mindset, both for poker and life in general. I an normally pretty good on poker mindset although I do tilt a bit after multiple bad beats in a night (which tends to happen a lot playing low buy in tournaments)

8) run 2 marathon this year, I have registered to the London Marathon which is at the end of April and I have started the training. So I want to keep to my training program, run London Marathon, register to another one around September / October time train and run again!

I also have a few goals for me and my family and for my work which do not need to be in here.

finally in case you missed it:

thank you. I hope so too. Short term it is easy; the issue is more to keep to them for the whole year or even longer.
