Probably gonna start playing and blogging again soon. Haven't played online poker in months; bricked about €600 worth of live tourneys in the past few weeks to get back into the swing of things.
Since my last post I've got a new job and apartment and went to China for a bit. Poker kind of fell by the wayside in all of that.

Hey look it's Matt and he's going to start doing his poker blog again hooray.
I've not played a single hand of online poker since October and had nary a look at a live table since November. In those two months I lost about €1,200 and turned what could have been a €10,000 year into a €8,800 year.
2015 summary
Despite this, 2015 was a great year poker-wise. I final tabled a 500-player live tournament; started a bankroll online with €200 at NL5 and ended it with €1,600 at NL20; had a four-figure deep run in the IPO; I handled any negative games I played really well and I think I'm better now than I ever have been.
So yeah 2015 was decent. But it could have been better! More volume, more study, fewer live donkaments and less degeneracy.
What I've been up to
Last month I got myself a nice shiny new apartment:

The month before that I spent a week in China. I'm pretty balla like that.
What I will be getting up to
I had to withdraw some of the bankroll to put towards the deposit on the apartment. Sadly, a non-shithole place in south Dublin is not cheap. I've got around €1,100 on Coral and I still have a nice rakeback deal going on.
I want to put in more volume and more practice this year. I'm going to avoid live tournaments with a buy-in of over €200 and avoid live tournaments that aren't well structured. It's fun spending an evening at the casino in a €50 turbo but it's not a productive use of my time.
My short-term goal is to rebuild my poker grinding muscles to the point of being able to sit down for several hours and knock out a few thousand hands a night.
In the longer-term, I want to have 100,000 hands at NL20 with a pre-rakeback EV winrate of >4BB/100.
In the even-longer-term, I want to be soundly beating NL100 and playing NL200 by 2017. I would also like to have 100+ hours of live €1/€2 under my belt before the end of the year, but I won't start playing that until my bankroll is €6k+.
I'm also going to keep going to the gym and writing and whatnot but I won't write about that in any detail.

Are you going to play full time or are you a semi-pro?
How was your month in China? I really want to travel and it's one of the places I fancy going en route to Australia. Obviously my travel is going to be poker dependant though.

The catch is that they were in Gib. Also I remember seeing how much PS were paying for them and I'd say I'm getting the better deal now!
True, and since you left Gibraltar the prices did not really decrease.
The flat that Hannes and me lived in for £1.2k in 2010 was up for grabs in December for the cheap price of £2.3k.
January overview
So even though there's the better part of a week left in January, my girlfriend flew home yesterday for a few weeks so I'm not going to play anymore this week, and probably not a huge amount for the first couple of weekends of February.
Here is my very rocky January:
2016 Goals
By 2017, I’d like to have completed the following poker goals:
• Be a winning player at NL100 6-max and in the position to take NL200 shots
>I’ll define “winning player” as a winrate of >2BB/100 over 100,000 hands.
• Be a winning player at €1/€2 live cash games
>I’ll define “winning player” as a winrate of >€0/hour over 50 hours.
• Be a winning player in live and online MTTs
>I’ll define “winning player” as net profit on the year.
To complete these goals, I’ll have to move up 2-3 stake levels and attain a >€6K bankroll by October 2016 or so, which I think is challenging but doable. However, it’s only doable if I actually work at it.
In the short term, I’m not going to set any volume-based goals. For February and March I want to focus on study and analysis, which I’ve neglected basically forever. I want a 2:1 ratio of playing and studying (hence the lack of volume goal) to really ingrain some core concepts. I'll probably take advantage of my lack of playing in February and take the chance to do some hand reviews and such.
However, I would ideally like to be playing at least 25,000 hands a month from March onwards, playing 2-3 tables of Speed Poker. I may up it to four if I feel comfortable, but the 25,000 figure seems doable two-tabling Speed or – as I’ll have to later because I guess iPoker’s bots don’t play NL50 Speed – six-tabling regular tables.
