How to stay motivated?

This question is a good description of one my hardest problems that I am trying to fix right know. So I decide to get every information that I could get to fix this lag. I googled it, as well. And I found some good point between many shit. It is not in my way to get motivation for a short moment. It is not about "Ok lets do it right now". It is more about the long term. How to stay focused to your targets and aspire to the the things in the way you stared it.
And yes many small "motivation-push" will bring you in the right way. But the small things are not enaugh if you want to get big (in sth. or for sth.).

So well, here are my points about "How to stay motivated":

1. Targeting - but do it right
2. Progress - Progress - Progress
3. Reset - Do not overheat!

1. Targeting - but do it right
Targeting is the first point that I would recommend if you want to stay motivated for a long time. Without long-time-targets you cant split this thing into many smaller targets. And without small targets you dont have the progress-point that I will describe in the point 2.
If you reach the bad days without any motivation that will not end you will (maybe) develope the question "whats about stoppting this". It is quit normal. And if you cant see a real and clear view about how getting the long-time-targets, you may loose the motivation. Without a real and clear view it is like hopeless to search for motivation by drink some coffee, get some fresh air or look some good points to do this.

"Reward yourself" - I read this sentence like 100 times. I give a shit about it. If I dont see my path to my goal I will not get suprised by a coming motivation by saying myself that I would get X or Y if I do this right now.
Maybe it is just my feeling but I can not manage my motivation-problems by saying "you get X or Y if you do this now". No - I need a good plan with my targets AND A PATH. A real path that I can see and feel. A path that will bring me to my long-term-targets.

So for me there is no way to do it withou targets. But there are some "normal" points that should be considered, because targets are no dreams. Targets are no things that you will get anyway. Targets are specific thoughts about what you can reach if you do something. Thinking about it twice and thrice should be a ordinary part of it. Are the targets doable? Are the targets the shit you really want to reach? Do you have a path to reach your goals? Do you know the details to reach your goals?

Build targets -> build a path to reach the targest (like many smaller targets) and write it down. This is "my" first part of a big package which can help myself to stay motivated in a long-term.

2. Progress - Progress - Progress
I think this point is the point with the bigger amount of motivation. Buf for this the targets is just the minimal requirement. Back to the days you want to stop something cause you cant see yourself going straight to your goals. Progress will now show you that you are stright to your goals. If you can show yourself now the progress that you did and that you go step by step by step forward your goals, you have a chance to go on.

There are many ways to show yourself your progress. The easiest is taking your week-targets and seeing how you worked on it. You did this week like "nothing"? You was so unmotivated that you did not reached a single point of your week-target-list? No problem - check out the last 10 weeks and look what you reached in this time. Basis for this are the weekly/monthly targets.

3. Reset - Do not overheat!
It is perfect if you are like warm/hot and working hard for your goals. But if you get the point of overheat yourself you just will get a burn-down. With a burndown I realy do not want to go on the way I am doing. Our inner says us that we doing to mutch.

So playing to long, to mutch, having to less sleep, have not mind-balance is no way. The limit is not the same by me as by you. But I am sure everyone has a limit. And disrespecting this will costs more than will brings positive.
I am did this one time (aleast). And I wish you all that you will not reach such a burn-down-moment/time. Because in such a moment you have to scale yourself down. More as you want to.

It is not about having a perfect day - every day. There are days you cant reach your targets. And this is ok. If it would not be like this it would not be called "targets". Targets are things that you want to reach day by day. But you will not get this targets everyday. If you get your day-goals on every singel day, than your targets are not hight enought.

Do you know more about it?

How I need to play 88-TT ...

Preflop
• Call openraise.
• Call min-reraise.
• Call 3-Bet if you are in position if you do not have to "cold-call" http://www.pokerstrategy.com/video/39638/.
• Check out if you really should call the 3-Bet OOP by reading the opponents. Maybe just call with TT and fold 88 & 99 or just fold in generel.
• Try to avoid 3-betting with this cards. -> You just will isolate yourself vs stronger hands. If you just call you will run better and can make more money with worse hands.
• 88-TT are the 6-7 % best hands but run just 45% vs the UTG range.

Postflop
IF I HIT THE SET:
• If I hit the Set and the board is dry-> make sure that anyone (you or your opponent) bets the flop! but do not overbet every street for max ev. Give villian a chance to bluff and keep the opponent-ranges wide. Try to make them betting to have the opportunity to call often.
• If I hit the Set and the board has many oportunities to develope straights and flushes -> bet big and give the enemy bad pot-odds on every street.

IF I DO NOT HIT THE SET:
• If I didnt hit the Set -> If you played agressiv @ preflop -> conti-bet! But make sure that the enemy can give up. Make also sure that it is a dry board if you want to conti-bet.
• If I didnt hit the Set and I played just passiv @ preflop -> if villian conti-bet me and there is just 1 overcard -> call the conti-bet.
• Vs wide ranges like BTN -> bet two streets
• Vs strong ranges like UTG -> just bet the flop
• If you dont know -> no set no bet !

Anyone knows more tips how to play 88-TT ? :)

Today I had to didy up, make the laundry and other shit. Well lets see what the day let create me :f_grin:

Targets:

  • Study 1 poker video ### undone
  • Analyse and comment 3 hands #### done :)
  • Play a session ### done :)
  • Sessionreview ### done :)
  • Post the hands with open questions ### done :)

In generel I think I should analyse, read and comment more hands and play less. Also I should study more articles and videos. On the other side I have to practise my knowledge. All in all I think I will play not more than 1 Session in the week. Maybe 2 @ the weekend.
Anyway I should play at least one session every day cause if I didnt play for some days I dont feel good @ the tables.

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has Q♠ J♦

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 2.5 BB, fold, BB raises to 8 BB, Hero calls 5.5 BB

Flop: (16.5 BB, 2 players) 6♣ 6♥ J♠
BB bets 9.5 BB, Hero calls 9.5 BB

Turn: (35.5 BB, 2 players) 4♥
BB bets 19.5 BB, Hero calls 19.5 BB

River: (74.5 BB, 2 players) 3♥
BB bets 64.5 BB and is all-in, fold

BB wins 72 BB

How you play this one? Seems like a strong line. I think he will play JJ+ like this. But most of the time they just call with JJ preflop. He will play a draw like AJh+ the same way but in every case I am hitted @ the river. So the river fold is like easy in this case!? .... I think so.

Should I raise the Turn or just call turn and fold the river?
