Formula 1 2016 Discussion Thread

I think Mercedes will still be the strongest team. Their problem may be keeping Hamilton and Rosberg from each other's throats.

A smokey could be the re-entry of a factory team from Renault for the 1st time in many years. Even though they haven't had their own team, they have been a major engine provider to other teams. Their drivers are basically unknown at this level but I would expect some high finishes this season.

Haas is also interesting. A lot of experience in Indycar classes, so they should know how to put a fast open-wheeler on the road. How quickly they adapt to F1 rules will be key.

Ferrari should improve again this year. Both Vettel and Raikkonnen are very fast and only need a decent powerplant to be competitive.

I also expect improvement from Williams. Bottas showed last year he could scrap with the big boys and I expect more from him this year.

I'm glad that Hulkenberg and Perez have kept their seats. Those guys pull off some of the most outrageous passing moves, even more so against each other.

I'm really looking forward to it and I would still be tipping Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes to take the Driver's and Constructor's championships

I guess Vettel will win this year, but it would be nice to see how Verstappen will do it this year after his pretty good debut season.

i only hope that Mercedes will not dominate this year also as last 2 years, not many races last years was fun to look at...

Time will tell. It would be a nice idea to give all teams the same cars. Than it would be more interesting for sure, but that wouldn’t happened.

I would bet on Hamilton because looks like Mercedes still have the best package and Hamilton is still a bit faster than Rosberg. But I don't really cheer for them to be honest, I would love to see Alonso, Massa, Raikkonnen and Kvyat fight for the championship - I like those drivers personally.

Yes, it will never happen - F1 is mostly a constructors' championship after all. But I do hope they might go for one test season or couple of races in the same car, as a sponsor event or F1 trying new things out, I dunno. It would really be great.

Actually I was really annoyed with the system at first but over time grew to understand it. It's not just the competition of who's the better driver, but also who got the best team, hardware, software, manufacturing, testing, tuning, etc-etc. It is also fascinating to watch. But a "one time all the same cars" event still would be awesome.

Here are the grid positions for the Australian Grand Prix:

Mercedes looked to have it covered in qualifying. Set a fast lap and if anyone gets close to it, go out and set a faster lap. The Toro Rossos of Vestappen and Sainz were quicker then big brother, Red Bull. Ferrari and Williams look to be next best behind Mercedes.

Before the race started today F1 announced, Formula 1 bosses have agreed to ditch the controversial new elimination qualifying system for the next race. WP i say on that one:f_thumbsup:

Thumbs up for Kimi! Ferrari need to solve their engine problem though.

Hopefully Verstappen will do it better in the next race. I had expected more than a 10th place.

He was pretty heated at Melbourne. He was yelling to the team trough radio all the time. Then he spin.

without some team mistakes he could have been higher,, but also was little bit overheated ,,
