Did I play it too loose? Should I have played it more aggressive? I just didn't want to scare villain off... and lost at the end to JJ second nuts FH...

Bet, bet, bet is the line here. Checking behind OTT is not good. You lose value. Raise the donk OTF.

You don't have to raise the flop donk, just as long as you have a plan for getting his 40 bb in the middle.

Checking back turn is just so, so silly, and shows that you didn't have a plan to get his 40 bb in the middle.

Yes, raising river can mean that you lose 40 bb against unbeatable nuts. If this were Omaha and we were 800 bb deep, I'd be concerned if I faced a reraise.

Calling flop is ok. Let him bet as long as he wants and when he x you start betting. That's why I do not like x turn too. Just bet.
River is ok.
