T8s on UTG

Opening T8s from UTG is a bad idea...

Opening T8s from UTG is bad. Calling villains 3bet with this hand is bad too, yes his move is fishy but he might easily play AA like this.
OTF you can check call with this hand but raising is overplay, calling his 3bet on the flop is just burning money. People do not 3bet flop with other than sets.
When villain plays like this he is very unpredictable and he might do this with total air or with nuts. You can't call there with second pair weak kicker.

This time you were lucky. Take a note on him and exploit him in future. But do not play like this vs standard unknown because most of the population will have nuts.

So, actually I will repeat the same - open UTG T8s is not good idea, but if you have a plan, it is ok.
The basic plan for T8s, I guess, to catch 2P or straight or flush I guess.
Also, it is your range capped and your villain could have all pockets including AA in his min 3b range.
So, you XR PFA and was 3b raised - it is pretty strong move most of the time and you have just TP without kicker, your villain could also have a lot of better hands.

Once more, T8s is not good for UTG play. OTF don´t call 3 bet, just fold.
