MP was a new player to the table
OTF - I semi bluff as I might get overcards to fold and have the backup of the OESD
OTT - miracle card
OTR - c/c or b/f or even c/f?

Looking back I think I should b/f, but that does open myself up to getting bluffed, but at these games I dont think many people are capable of that

MP ( €3.18 EUR ) - VPIP: 56, PFR: 11, 3B: 0, AF: 1.3, Hands: 36
SB( €2.40 EUR ) - VPIP: 65, PFR: 3, 3B: 5, AF: 0.7, Hands: 141

Pacific, $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $2.40 (48 bb)
Hero (BB): $6.72 (134.4 bb)
MP: $3.18 (63.6 bb)
CO: $4.47 (89.4 bb)
BTN: $2.85 (57 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 5♠: 5♦:
MP calls $0.05, 2 folds, SB completes, Hero checks

Flop: ($0.15) 4♦: 7♦: 6♠: (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.07, MP calls $0.07, SB calls $0.07

Turn: ($0.36) 3♣: (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.24, MP calls $0.24, SB folds

River: ($0.84) Q♦: (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $0.63, Hero calls $0.63

Results:

Spoiler

$2.10 pot ($0.12 rake)
Final Board: 4♦: 7♦: 6♠: 3♣: Q♦:
Hero showed 5♠: 5♦: and lost (-$0.99 net)
MP showed J♦: 8♦: and won $1.98 ($0.99 net)

I think you played it fine but I would bet smaller OTR. From this villain you will get calls from weaker hands but he has some flushes too of course. Bet fold is a good move but I would bet a bit less than 1/2 pot.

My sentiments exactly. Check-calling big bets (most often for a split or losing to flushes) is probably -EV. It is too obvious that you have a 5. I'd check-call only a super- aggressive player. The small bet also provides some insurance against getting bluffed out (but may backfire against good players assessing you good as well).

I would raise preflop. Bet bigger OTT. Probably fold OTR.

He didn't bet OTR :f_biggrin::f_biggrin:

Bet bigger OTF and OTT, OTR is a quite border but I would call too for that price.

Bet bigger on the turn. b/f OTR.
If they fold a lot vs 3bet - 3bet preflop si fine as well IMO.

Bet bigger on turn only if assessing villain as brain-dead (and you have slight brain-damages yourself as well:D). What would be the purpose of such a bet? Make him fold a better hand?

Hi !
For me call pre is fine, you are set mining.
OTF I would play check call. It is multi way, what would you do against a raise?
OTT can be a bet, XR is good too.
OTR against that sizing for me call is fine, he has more things than flushes that plays like that.
If you decide to bet on the river, then fold to a big raise.

Bet bigger OTT? I bet 2/3 pot, I dont see much point in betting pot or overbetting

Looking back I prefer the 1/2pot b/f, at these games I think I will only get raised by a flush, I dont think anyone is good enough to think "I can get him to fold a 5 by raising"

to protect/value against FD and better straight (89s)

By bigger I meant something like 3/4 pot.

It doesn´t have to be full pot, you can bet 0,06 more (for example) and it will help your winrate ;). Even 1BB helps.

This is a limped pot, so you'll run into a lot more random 85 that are slowplaying. No, the only virtue of betting big is that you could bluff out a split. This is extremely dangerous. Hands like 98 have six nut outs, and shouldn't be calling even the 2/3 bet. By betting big, you either make them fold worse or you commit yourself to losing the stack on unpleasant rivers (like the one here). A second nut straight in a 3-way pot with a 4-straight on board without chances to improve is a very weak hand. It can't make serious money.

Villain is already making a mistake if he calls with a draw, and we want that. But how big mistakes villain is going to make? If he would call 2/3 pot with a draw, we would make profit on the long run, but if he will most of the times fold vs 3/4pot bet we don't actually get that much value, right?

Right. And if he calls, the pot is big and we might have to pay off all rivers.

The main thing about this hand is that a limped pot with two interested opponents on the turn with an obvious board means that only the nuts can expect to make money safely. I'd seriously consider folding on turn holding, say, A♠:5♥: to even a 2/3 bet if I were villain. Drawing to a split with more bets to come is not good poker. This is what I mean by that we are actually bluffing on turn here. Remember, 85 is out there. If I played in SB, I might actually be holding 85 myself if I thought the limper and BB were weak players, every day if deep.

But, I admit. I haven't noticed their stacks until now. Maybe going broke 63.5 bb is acceptable against truly bad players here. I'd still not play to lose a 63.6 bb stack as played.

@YohanN7 @ la55i : agreed with your analyze; my bad : small bet then

So your line after small bet is OTT b/F then OTR x/c ?
When call OTR, what sizing do you call (depending of river card) ?
- diamond
- blank

Do not play for all your money in a limped pot without the nuts! :)
River is a bet/fold. This way you set the price.

huh, i guess it is an obvious fold at nl5. I guess just bcs of the sizing and villain line. IMO.
