Hi,
villain on SB is a fish. Villain in EP is reg. It´s 3way, he 3bets, I fold. I´m not even sure if I would call AK there. What do u think?

I would bluff 3bet AJo pre. Snowie would fold it. So I guess I don't like just calling :)

When UTG raises the flop multiway I think you can fold.

I prefer 3b this hand vs UTG. Calling is worse.
When the reg UTG raises - you have to fold.

Well, it´s UTG, so I didn´t want to isolate against stronger range. However it´s NL2, so maybe 3bet is still good there. But I think it´s at least diskutable and both, call and 3bet, are more or less ok?

UTG opening range is tight and AJo will be usually just dominated hard.

Both w34z3l and Matthew Janda recommend 3bet bluffing in their ranges and Robmaf&Snowie would fold.

Of course we can discuss about whether calling would be fine but my strong opinion is that it is not :f_biggrin:

Ok, I believe, the truth is, that when I look at charts I have downloaded in my PC, AJo is 3bet bluff :). However I recently saw a video, that at micros it´s better just to call more against EP, but not sure if the AJo is the case :).

Well, AJo is not the case as you will be dominated very often vs EP open.

It's NL2 and there's fish in SB so I think calling here is definitely better than folding.

I'm not sure how the fact that SB is a fish changes that we are dominated vs UTG who would still be in the pot?

Vs 16% UTG range AJo has almost 50% equity.

Some UTG do not open for 16%.
And many open ATs+, AJo+ vs which we are heavily dominated.

16% is too much imo. 12% I would guess ppl open.

I would say 16% opening range from UTG is wider than most of the regs will have. I would expect villain to open 10-14%.
And it is not about the raw equity of AJo vs villains range. Every time you hit an ace you are not sure if you are dominated.
Since there are 3 streets coming raw equity preflop doesn't mean much. The playability of this hand is poor.

Well if UTG opening range of regs at NL2 is so nitty ok then. My point is you shouldnt autofold hands that arent in your default range - it depends on the table you're playing at and in this case when there's fish in blinds Id play wider ranges + you can exploit leaks + no one will get you in trouble at NL2.

Very much true, but to diverge from our standard play we need a good reason to do so.

Hero didn't tell us what kind of fish SB is (whether he is 18/0 weak tight or 80/50 whale), so we can't trust the fact that SB always will call there. That means we might be playing only against reg UTG and that would be bad. Even if the fish would call us, we might still be donating money to UTG's better hands because we are almost always dominated (so it doesn't matter much if fish joins, that only means more money to UTG). Also what if SB calls and BB decides to squeeze? What kind of player BB is? That is important info also. We really don't want to face a squeeze and play with this hand multiway.

Id play wider ranges + you can exploit leaks + no one will get you in trouble at NL2.

Widening our calling range vs UTG reg just because there is one possible fish behind is a leak imo. Also if there would be no one that could get hero in trouble, hero wouldn't be playing NL2.

In addition AJo is not that good mw... if someone wants to join from behind.

Changing my mind from "I think calling here is definitely better than folding." to it depends on the table - with right regs and right fish Id still call it.

So what is the best scenario post-flop? Hit an A or J and prey that UTG checks it down?

It seems to me like we definitely have reverse implied odds with this hand against a UTG open. I would much rather call hands like small PP's or SC's which we can actually hit a big hand with and cooler him for a big pot or be aggressive with on low boards which doesn't hit his range well.
