So I didnt even think much about this hand when playing, but when I was reviewing my session tonight I came across it and I think this hand deserves a forum review to see if you agree with how I played it. When I look at it closer I think I might have played this poorly.

Hand History driven straight to this forum with DriveHUD Poker HUD & Database

NL Holdem $0.25(BB)
BTN ($10.25)
SB ($37.04)
BB ($30.87)
HERO ($25)
HJ ($42.52)
CO ($38.85)

Dealt to Hero K♦ Q♠

HERO Raises To $0.75 (Rem. Stack: 24.25), HJ Calls $0.75 (Rem. Stack: 41.77), CO Folds, BTN Calls $0.75 (Rem. Stack: 9.50), SB Calls $0.65 (Rem. Stack: 36.29), BB Folds

Obviously here this is a standard open raise from UTG.

Flop ($3.25) Q♥ 9♠ K♣
SB Bets $2.45 (Rem. Stack: 33.84), HERO Calls $2.45 (Rem. Stack: 21.80), HJ Folds, BTN Folds

So here is a mental lapse for me here. I didnt realize it at the time in a 4 way pot and me flopping my 2 pair. JT makes a straight on the flop and my 2 pair clouded my head and didnt even think a JT was possible here, even with the SB opening with a donk bet. When he opens up I am happy to call here, thinking for sure I have the best hand, again not even contemplating JT which would make sense for a donk bet in what is a 4 way flop.

Turn ($8.15) Q♥ 9♠ K♣ 2♣
SB Bets $4.35 (Rem. Stack: 29.49), HERO Calls $4.35 (Rem. Stack: 17.45)

Again im feeling great here, because I know this player (A 23/19 player over 183 hands) likely doesnt have a 2 in his range that would donk bet on the flop. That being said, again a mental lapse.. my brain never even computes that my opponent might have anything better than a K or a Q. My brain here is so clouded by my 2 pair.. I mean I dont think he has KK or QQ because he would have 3 bet me with these hands.. so I am discrediting them. But I am never thinking he has JT!!! Its like my brain said these cards dont exist. Hmm interesting, he lowers his bet here, giving me pot odds of 25%. I mean of course I am continuing because in my mind its like JT isnt even in the damn deck!!!

River ($16.85) Q♥ 9♠ K♣ 2♣ 6♣
SB Bets $8.26 (Rem. Stack: 21.23), HERO Calls $8.26 (Rem. Stack: 9.19)

Not really worried about the 6 of clubs. He wasnt donk betting with a backdoor flush draw on the flop, and im not concerned about the 6. I dont expect him to have any 6's in his range that would have gotten to the river. Of course im not concerned about the straight since my mind completely disregarded the JT LOL. WOW!!!

Ok Result in spoiler. This is one of those situations where I am playing, and my mind forgets about the process and just calls bet after bet never thinking I could have the worse hand. Personally I think this was a mistake, but I would like to know your thoughts on this.

PS - I ranged this out in flopzilla as I reviewed this hand post session and I have 10% equity vs the range I put him on on the river - 99,JTo,K9s,Qd9d,JhTh,JdTd,JsTs

Spoiler

SB shows 9♥ K♥

HERO wins $31.52

Yea so as it turned out, he played the hand even worse than I did. Betting out of position with K9 3 streets from the small blind of all places was pretty bad on his part. But I dont want to be results oriented, and when I went and reviewed this hand I saw a major error I think I made here.. or was it?

I think it’s fine you played it. If you raise 1 street you get only action of better I think.

I think this was well played. Yea JT is in villains range but it is not the only hand in his range. You can't fold top 2 pair vs half pot bets.

Hi,
in this case, it is very important to notice we are 4way on flop. So you should defend on flop very tight range (you can fold some TP here!!). OTR I think both actions (call or fold) have +- same EV in this spot. And I think fold is a little better here.

First, we know SB is reasonable player. Which means he doesnt donk some weird hands OTF 4way. Second, if he sometimes plays loose on flop, I doubt he can bluff 3 barrel in this spot ever. With this sizing. I dont think so. But maybe i was wrong...
Anyway, we stand vs very strong range here and if we want to call, villain should have considerable overplays or bluffs. The last thing, we dont have to defend river so loose, if we didnt defend flop very loose. If he have some bluffs on river, we still have better hands to call and we dont make mistake by folding.
