Update on the Past Week

I not sure why I choose Saturday as the start of my week but I have, so here's a recap of the past week. I ended up my week with a loss online and at the local casino. I ended up playing catch up as I started the week very poorly and played in a game that put me above my comfort zone.
Last Saturday, I joined the PLO 2/5 game with my regular $500 buy-in and lost that pretty quickly. I knew it was a mistake and did it anyways. Monday went back to my regular NL500 and after that session I left with $407 dollars, Tuesday +300, Wednesday +374, Thursday -334. This means for the week i had a loss of $313.
Online I didn't fair much better. From my initial deposit of $72, i am now sitting at just over $49.
I spent most of my evening on Friday, going over articles on pokerstrategy and using the equilab to evaluate my hand selection, equity vs player types and found it all very exciting.
I find it very exciting to see where i am making some mistakes, so i can make less of them in the future. I am still in my infancy when it comes to using these tools but with all the information and help that is available it will become easier and easier to use.

Bitter sweet weekend

I am pretty happy with all the information I have been able to read thus far. I also believe it has already improved my game and looking forward to what else i am going to learn within this website.
I played in a tournament at my local casino on Saturday. It was a $60 rebuy with a total of 140 entries. Unfortunately i was knocked out on the bubble, and it was because of an error in my play. I had played, in my opinion a very solid tournament up until that point and was a chip leader for most of the tournament. But all it takes is one bad mistake and you finish on the bubble.
The better news, was that I had the best ever 1 day result playing in the cash game later that evening. I went home for a couple of hours to vent for getting knocked out on the bubble.(stupid mistake:f_frown:
I made a total of $1351 in profit for the day. This included the cost of the tournament. So over all i was pretty happy with my Saturday session.
My Sunday session at the casino netted me a profit of $250. Short session as i had intended to play the evening tournament but didn't return. I decided to play online instead.
Online i am still adjusting my game but I will improve. I have a total of $40 left in the account. So down $32 from my initial investment. I have posted a few hands and will review my session and keep on reading all the hand postings, so much knowledge to absorb.

Struggling with Online
I am down to $28 with my online account, down another $12. I truly am enjoying playing online and find that it is helping me with my game. I am noticing that the one major difference with online is that a lot of the actions need to be done quickly and become more of a reflex when in certain scenarios. When I am at one of the local casinos in my city, I am able to take my time and evaluate a person's range and also their mood to determine my actions. So I find myself struggling in trying to make the correct calls but it just means I have to be smarter with my ranges and actions as players tend to be a lot more selective with their bets and hands. With online you see so many more hands per hour that I also need to be more selective.
At the local casino, I am continuing my winning streak to 3 days and today I netted a $380 profit.
I also watched my first live stream from PS. It was a video on the basics of evaluating your hand equity. Thank you I certainly enjoyed the video and I look forward to watching a lot more.

Rebuy

Might have to agree bookai. Might have been a little ambitious with the 7BI's as I now have to rebuy. I am starting with the same bankroll. Here's hoping
I do believe if I am going to be competitive online I should probably download some software to help and it would certainly clear up what some of the abbreviations are on some of the posts.
The local NL500 was also a little rough on me the past few days. On Tuesday it was a 10hour day with a loss of $-435> This also included the $60 buy-in for the tournament I played. I did make a few mistakes, obviously, one of which cost me $300 but for the most part it was a lot of unplayable hands and folding to stronger hands. Such are some days at the table.
To cap my day off, I busted on the bubble in the tournament. My fault entirely. I intended to shove my stack in the hand preflop but didn't announce it and the way I put my chips in was considered a string beat so it was deemed a call. He pushed his chips in on the flop and I called, he won
I might have been able to get in the money had I folded but it would have left me with less than 3BB, but as I said completely my fault. doh!!
Wednesday, was more of an extension of Tuesday. It was only a 3 hour session and I only lost $-90. I was getting a lot of unplayable hands, so I decided to cut it short. That's when I thought I would play online and lost the rest of my stack. Idiot! I wasn't really in the right frame of mind and the first bad luck I had just made me see less and less clear. That's also why I played online, I knew I could only lose $30 and it didn't take to long. lol
Today was better at the casino. Thought my play overall was good, until about the last 40 minutes. The last 40 minutes I lost almost $400 in profits. One of the pots was due to the way I played it and the others were just bad luck. I left after the third lost pot, villain hit runner, runner(gutshot) to make the nut straight both times
I managed to walk away up $360 and used $60 of that to play the tournament, which had already started but has late registration. So I registered and made it to the first break, and first hand after break I was out. Again my poor playing of the hand cost me my stack. I had over 300bb's!!! Sometimes I'm amazed at how retarded I play.
I limp in mp1 with 89s, from the minute I saw my hand I thought raise, so I limped and everyone folded except the sb and bb. They both called. That put 1200 in the pot. Flop came 826 rainbow. SB check, BB bets 400, I raise to 1500, sb reraises to 3000. BB folds I call. Turn comes 10s, this gives me 4 card flush with top pair. SB puts me all in, I call. Villian has 10/2o and the river is a j. I'm out. Could I have played this worse.

New Goals for the Week
Nov 9th was a tough day. Lost a total of $415. I actually lost $500 at the casino but made $85 playing in my regular Friday night game. The majority of my losses came from 2 hands. The one hand I raised from the button to $45 with AKs after a total of 1 raiser to $10 and 3 callers, so basically a pot sized bet. I had the sb call the $45 and all other players folded. Flop was Q,10,4 rainbow. I bet $75, sb called. Turn was a Q, sb bet out $75 and I called. River was an 8 and sb pushed with $225. I folded. Not very well played by myself. This cost me $195. I only play with a maximum of $500 per day, so losing $200 early hurts and I have to switch my game up. Needless to say I lost the remaining $300 within the next 2 hours. It happens and I usually learn a valuable lesson. Hopefully this is no exception as the player I lost to is a regular and plays an aggressive loose style.
I didn't play on the weekend, as I decided to see a concert on Saturday. Went with a few buddies I hadn't hung out with for a while and needed sunday to recover from Saturday.
The concert was pretty awesome. The band was Reign Wolf and if you get the chance to see him perform I would suggest it. The dude can play the guitar!! I have seen him perform 3 times now, one of those he opened for Black Sabbath!
Monday was a good start for me. Profits of $401 to start the week.:f_biggrin: The session lasted approximately 5.5hours. My goal for the week is to profit $1750. Fingers crossed.

That AKs hand doesn't seem that bad to me. I guess you could find the fold on the turn but I don't think it's really ugly or anything.

You obviously play a lot live? Are you using reads/tells much? Would be interested to see more live hands with sick reads if you pull any off.

Taking it on the Chin

I have been a little lazy on the updating of my progress. It has been a rough couple of weeks but I think I can see some light at the end of this tunnel. I will share 1 hand that best sums up the last two weeks that had me take a $2000 down swing.
I was playing heads up against an aggressive loose player, she was the sb and i was the bb. Preflop she bet $35 and I followed with a call. There were some limpers in the pot prior to her bet and folded prior to the flop. So there was a total of $80 pre flop. The flop came A36 rainbow, she bet $55 and announced that she hit the flop hard and I should fold. I held in my hand A10o. As i was thinking about my action she told the table that she had 24 and again saying I should fold, so I was a little confused as 24 only gave her a gut shot. So I called. Turn was a 10, which now gave me top two pair and she immediately went all in for an additional $300 which at the time was $15 more than I had. Now I was really confused as she once again said she had 24 and said I should fold. You could imagine my confusion as I had top two pair and she was telling me she only had 24 in her hand, which meant if she was telling the truth she had absolutely nothing....so I decided to take her word on what she had and called. I am sure anyone who reads this would have done the same. I am sure you can imagine my shock when a 5 hit on the river and she showed 24s which gave her the straight on the river. Not only was I in utter disbelief but the rest of the table was shocked as well. That was the end of my session that day and the trend continued for the next 4-5 sessions which ended up with a loss of approximately $2000.
The mental game poker plays with your head can be quite tough and this is the first time I am writing about it. Now I would like to think that I am pretty tough mentally but for those other sessions any time I took, what I consider to be a bad beat, it just reinforced that I was getting really unlucky and things would eventually turn around but the frustration just kept growing. I also stopped checking out the PS website, stopped looking at the posted hands and just tried to power through it as I just believed I was getting unlucky and it would eventually change. The hardest thing to do when you feel things aren't going well is to reach out for help and this is what I used to preach to my staff at my last place of employment. When things aren't going well reach out to someone who has gone through something similar and allow them to help you through whatever it is that is causing you to lose sight of what you are trying to accomplish. I was not following my own advice. Shame on me.
So the past two days I have managed to get myself back on the sight, have read all the posted hands that my status allows me to and have made a net profit of $700. I feel my confidence slowly coming back and once again I am eagerly looking forward to my next session.
Bradomurder- i will start to post some sick reads when I pull them off as I use reads and tells often. Players tell us things all the time, whether it's verbally or non-verbally and I am constantly looking for any type of advantage I can get. Thanks for reading and taking an interest.=)

Live poker can be so tough like that. The downswings can last so long and you have to sit there out in the open and take it, as opposed to being hidden behind a screen at home.

I used to play a lot of live poker and I've definitely been there before. I see you posted this a while ago, how's december treated you?
