I guess you are in best case against a flush draw and his move looks spewy, but even so you beat not even all his spew shoves and I wouldn't take a variance line yet against a weaker player.

Check pre or at least go for bigger raise if you do. Now you create pretty much no fold equity with bad postflop hand. I would personally check this very often pre with 25bb depth. As played on flop going often for check-call line.

is 85 or 83 fine as a pre raise sizing? What hands do you raise than? I just check crap and playable stuff. This is exacly why I got confused. Here you want to play a small pot by bot raising pre. I get that know that vs fish I just want to let the pot grow if I am sure that I got him beat. This is not as trivial as it looks like due to bluffs and semi bluffs I guess.

I believe this is HU so we are oop. Minimum size would be raise to 90 and preferably bit bigger like 105.

Hands that would make more sense to me would be e.g. KT, QJ, A9+, 88+, 54s, ... So hands that are either for value or as bluff but will play better postflop. Depends also how much we expect to face limp-3betting.

Crappy Ax(especially offsuit) are troublesome in a way that most of time you will have A high on flop or weak to medium pair. So you will be in lot of gray area where your hand is in fact ahead of villain range little bit but most of time it wont have much ways to improve.

E.g. this K22 is in fact good flop for your hand but if you bet and get action you don't know where you are. Plus better hand won't usually fold either. Weaker calling or raising is more likely but villain being in position has good chance to end up winning. If you check and villain bet you might be ahead but again not nice spot. Plus only 2-3 A are really good for you.

Lot of postflop situations are going to be like that with hand like this. But if you raise some broadway or 56s your situations are often lot easier. Plus you will more often have more ways to improve.

How to form that raise range depends on opponent of course. If we don't expect him to fold much at all we want mostly value hands with postflop playability. If he folds lot increasing bluff combos make sense. But even with those light raises I prefer to have some playability.

ok. do you change this sizing in a mtt if we were deeper? If I am ip raising less should be fine but with deeper stacks the implied odds rise. According to that I should raise more.

Yeah definitely bit bigger is reasonable. Especially if there are antes.

Really nice Tip about raising Ax. I will try to raise more playable hands postflop
