I've recently got back into poker, and I'm playing recreationally at micro-stakes on Pokerstars. I'd appreciate your input on this hand. Sadly, I can't post the HH, since Pokerstars isn't saving them, despite me opting-in. I'm looking into that also, but if you have any advice on that front too, I'd be grateful.
We're 3 handed in a $1.50 turbo 6-Max SNG, so on the bubble. I'm short-stacked with 11BB. The other two have 15BB and 20BB. Both have become tight-passive since bubble-play began and we're about 20 hands in, since player 4 busted. So far, I've been min-raising on the button, or in the small-blind when folded to me, and cbetting when called, which has been enough to win most pots. I avoid calling raises / playing against the big stack OOP. The blinds have just gone up, so my plan now is to push/fold.
I get dealt 99 on the BB. The button (15BB) limps and the SB (20BB) 3x raises and I've not seen him do this yet. I'm thinking now whether to ship or fold, as I don't think flatting makes sense given my stack. I ended up folding, because I thought I'd have close to no fold-equity, and I'd be getting it in either against two overcards, or a bigger pair.
The idea was to pick a better spot, but I've been wondering if that was a bad fold, because both villains had been playing tight, min-raising to steal on the button, (to which I'm folding all marginal hands) and generally very passively against each other, e.g. checking down a board heads-up when they have mid-pair. The next hand, I open-shoved A8o in the SB and got called with 44 by the BB, which held up.
I knew I'd need to double-up to cash, but I'm not sure if the A8o was a better spot.
