Hey guys,
as I decided to quit playing SnG and grinding MTT I first wanted to go CG - so this should have been my CG-blog but due to lack of time (I´m already focussing on Omaha-CG) I decided to go recreational MTT-player. So, I play as "weekend warrior" and on special occasions some MTTs.
My favorites are progressive knock outs (PKO)! I do not intend to build a BR from MTT but playing just for fun, so this is a fun-blog.

Getting into it!
Yes, this is not 2008 anymore and this means that I gotta re-fresh my CG-knowledge, develop new skills, study and learn. Before I made this decision I already tested the water (and my skills) a little bit on different rooms in order to find the softest room and to find out if I´m still capable of playing CG :f_ugly:. Haven´t forgotten everything from back then I´m looking forward to sharpen and build up my post-flop skills. 
Three letters will guide my way:

So, how do we start?
As I took 800$ from my tournament BR we´(re-)starting with the left-overs: 428€ (478,28 $)
On which rooms am I gonna play?
Mainly on Unibet but also on RIO and a little bit on iPoker
What limit do I play?
I´m starting mainly with NL4, mixed with a bit of NL10
How often am I gonna play?
Would like to play at least 3times per week, mainly smaller sessions, but of course also depends on work-load and other stuff going on in my life.
Will I entirely quit tournament poker?
Almost! Saturday is gonna be my "cheat-day". On Saturday I play whatever I feel like (this can be tournaments too)
Do I have a BRM as fun-player?
Yes! As you see, my BRM is now 100 stacks which is appropriate for short-handed CGs. I feel absolutely comfortable with it.
Every now and then I will take a shot at NL10 though.
As there´s no tracker on Unibet I will just post once per month my BR. So you get a BR-update at the end of every month, next update at the end of January.

I too am a CG player after starting my poker life as a MTT/SNG player. I prefer CG for the same reasons you explained in your post. I think Unibet as a choice of destination is a wise choice on your part. Very low rake and a weak player pool at 4NL should make your transformation from MTT/SNG to CG less bumpy. However, I don't recommend ipoker for CG. Apart from the highest rake online at 6.7% which will eat away at your winrate, the few tables that are running are infested with BOTs and regs. It's a chore having to table select while waiting for a good table to be available at that network. Take my advice and avoid ipoker because this network is sinking like the Titanic.
Since Pokerstars imposed a four table cap on cash games the tables have loosened up. These days it is much easier to find a good table than it used to be before the change. I play 90% of my CG there now.
Thank you, Arthur! The rake is horrible on iPoker that´s true. I thought I play a bit there because of the weak player pool but as I read now that there are BOTs, I will immediately cash out and put the money somewhere else. Found Unibet to be the best of CG: both Holdem and PLO. Still testing the water here and there.....but so far Unibet is my absolute favorite! ♠_love:

Well, got four reasons for it: The most important reason is the mental game in tournaments. I don´t know why, but I have never managed the mental game of those all-in situations in tournament poker, especially in MTT variance is just HUGE! Most SnGs nowadays are turbos - which also means: high variance, a lot of all-in situations.Yes, in CG too but the point is - it was terribly frustrating for me busting out of tournaments. Playing for hours and eventually busting with AA just shy before ITM or the FT? Playing 4 hours for a mincash? Not for me!

The HUGE advantage is that you can quit whenever you want, and take your winnings up to this point away with you.
If you haven't read "The Mental Game of Poker" by Jared Tendler and Barry Carter then grab a copy and read it.
Don't just read it though. As you go through it, do the different things the author suggests.
One I remember helping a lot is keeping a "Mental hand history" -- but I did it more session by session.

I have listened to the audio book of "The Mental Game of Poker" and another mental-game-book, somehow I didn´t manage the mental game in tournaments anyway, the busting was just a pain in the bum bum, not even the BI lost, tournament poker was just super mega frustrating, I worked hard on the mental game but ..... well.... first I thought I couldn´t manage it and then after thinking and re-thinking how to continue with poker, remembering my CG-days, starting PLO-CG I figured that tournament poker is very probably just not for me. I have so much fun playing CG and I never had problems with playing with the money directly and loosing some money in CG. It´s weird, I know, someone could think that well, "if Prim struggles with the mental game in tournaments, she will never make it in CG". Interestingly, that is not the case! I feel way more comfy playing with the money directly - winning or loosing it. Winning big or loosing until the stop loss limit.

I have fun studying poker anyway and looking forward to learn GTO and CG properly. Beeing a recreational player doesn´t mean that you can´t win big or you can´t build and sharpen your skills - that´s what hobbies are for. I do that in tennis, even though I will never play in Wimbledon 
I just have fun learning it and improving - this goes for tennis as well as for poker! ♠_thumbsup:
We start with a nice winning ...
.... but don´t know exactly where it came from :f_ugly::f_ugly: Please note: I play not only Holdem-CG but also PLO-CG. As I cannot track hands and winnings I can´t distinguish between PLO and NLHE winnings, so I just post my BR here with PLO inside. Today I made a nice winning of +35€ by playing NL10, PLO4, PLO10 and NL4. I just saw my stacks growing, that´s right but cannot say what comes now from which game.
I think today my winning comes mainly from PLO but also in Holdem I won.
The thing is that first I played NL10 and NL4 on iPoker. Then I took my BR from there, transferred it to Unibet, started playing PLO4, ran well and then a full blown migraine hit be like a truck. Had to quit my session, took a painkiller, wait until I got better and played another PLO-session. So the first winnings come from Holdem, the rest from PLO.
Note to myself: Write down the results separately! :f_ugly::f_ugly:
As I play only CG now, I have to watch not only the BR but the results from both games.
Even though the odds were not in my favor ...
I could manage to make +9,65€. Was in fact pretty card-dead but those who know me can now guess how I made it. 
Violence can sometimes be a solutions. Played NL4 and NL10 on Unibet. My hands didn´t really excite me - lot of junk and lot of totally missed flops. But as I already learnt some GTO (cause played deepstack MTTs) I could manage to steal and bluff pretty well. 
I had one nice hand which was a flush. Had Q♣ K♣ on the BTN and everybody folded to me. Of course I raise and SB calls. I flop the flush and SB donks in. I call. Turn: SB donks again - I call. River: a blank and SB donks again - I jam, SB calls and shows a set. That was my only double up. The rest went: someone raises, I 3-bet, fold. Raise, I 3-bet, fold. I raise, get called, c-bet /double barrel. Two bluffs went wrong, I gotta pay attention not to bluff too much (as there´s no busting from a tournament and "goodbye" ♠_ugly: ).
At the moment I enjoy trying out what I have learnt so far about post-flop play, ranges, blockers and exploiting Villains. Sometimes I mess up, well, then I mess up, reload and continue. Had a lot of fun today anyway in my little early session. Playing about 4 tables at the moment, that´s enough for the beginning. Just gotta pay attention to be (more or less) balanced, constructed "half-ranges" so far, not quite sure about all of them. As I said: Sometimes I mess a bit up but today there was not much to mess up. Often it was just like: "They are scared - but I´m not". So.... not a big deal to apply pressure, right?

I don´t really do session reviews cause it´s not possible but whenever I encounter a difficult, tricky hand, I save the picture of it (snipping tool) and write down what happened.
