After reading vengeance77's claim that the rake is the most brutal online, and your response that the rake is just 5% in line with the industry standard, and with favourable rakeback, I decided to Google for more information about this subject. As always the Devil is in the detail.
While GGPoker charges a reasonable 5% rake they also set a ridiculously high rake cap, making multiway all-ins and/or deep stack all-ins veritable rake traps.
GGPoker NL rake:
$0.05 / $0.10, rake 5%, Rake cap 3+ players $3
$0.10 / $0.25, rake 5%, Rake cap 3+ players $5
£0.25 / $0.50, rake 5% , Rake cap 3+ players $5
Pokerstars NL rake:
$0.05 / $0.10, rake 4.50%, Rake cap for 3-4 player $1.00, 5+ players $1.50
$0.10 / $0.20, rake 4.5%, Rake cap for 3-4 players £1.00, 5+players $2.00
$0.50 / $1.00, rake 5%, Rake cap for 3-4 players $0.75, 5+players $2.00
I got this information on a third party poker site because GGPoker haven't made it easily available on theirs. It's possible the information is now out of date. If this proves to be the case I apologise in advance.
