They are both unknowns.

PokerStars - $0.25 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 100 BB
Hero (SB): 108.16 BB
BB: 139.8 BB
UTG: 153.2 BB
MP: 100 BB
CO: 111.28 BB

Hero posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has J♠ J♦

UTG raises to 3 BB, fold, fold, BTN calls 3 BB, Hero raises to 12 BB, fold, UTG calls 9 BB, BTN calls 9 BB

Flop: (37 BB, 3 players) Q♥ 3♣ 8♦
Hero checks, UTG checks, BTN checks

Turn: (37 BB, 3 players) T♣
Hero checks, UTG bets 16.8 BB, fold, Hero calls 16.8 BB

River: (70.6 BB, 2 players) 3♥
Hero checks, UTG bets 33.72 BB, Hero ??

Thoughts?

I would most likely give up the river against a unknown. He/She was betting in to 2 players on turn and that makes it less likely this is a bluff.

Is betting turn and then x/f otr a bad option instead of x/c turn and x/f river?

I have a GTO play that I also learned here If I 3-bet pre-flop I will automatically c-bet 33% of the pot. Makes my life easier and it is not exploitable. Then, you will see how they will react then decide from there.

GTO play

As played, fold river can't give him any more value.

Sure, may be betting on flop makes things easier on later streets.

However, once I take this line, I have to call river, I think. To me, he reps nothing. TT? Club draws? AK?

Please check below IF you wanna see the results:

Spoiler

UTG shows K♣ A♦ (One Pair, Threes)
(Pre 43%, Flop 25%, Turn 18%)
Hero shows J♠ J♦ (Two Pair, Jacks and Threes)
(Pre 57%, Flop 75%, Turn 82%)
Hero wins 131.84 BB
Don't try to bluff me guys. I am a helpless calling station. I have called with much less for much more many times.

I like the call.

- opponent would have likely bet Qx and sets on the flop, so they aren't really in his range
- Only real value hand that makes a lot of sense is TT(maybe a slowplayed QQ?)
- When the BTN checks back the flop he is signalling a lot of weakness and so I think that UTG can definitely have bluffs in his range when he bets the turn and river
- The UTG player could bluff with AK, AJ, might even be going for thin value with AT
- You are getting a pretty good price to call

Good call in my opinion :f_thumbsup:

Only think I would have done differently is bet the turn myself, but checking isn't a bad option either. When you check though I think you need to call down here(which you did).
