if I am bluffcatching I am doing it mostly based on tells and mental notes - I tend to believe players and overfold.
hes just not repping much throughout the hand.
FLOP
Hes raising a pretty dry board for start, yes it hits BB range but not very hard I have much more strong hands here than BB. Sure he can have 55, 99 or AJ and raising dry board is usually polarizing, but he doesn't have full stack and due to R&C dynamics ppl sometimes raise random stuff and give up on later streets [I wouldn't be surprised if he would do that with hand like JT, QT, TT or other more random stuff like gut shot he ended up on the river with]. I was actually considering folding for a sec [you can see the time bank as I went through reasons to call in my head] - like I said I play pretty nitty lately and I don't bother sticking to marginal hands - considering all the above and the fact I had the position I decided to call and see the turn.
TURN
Ace is a pretty good card for me, now it is less likely he has AJ so that makes my hand the best J possible. Yes he can have a random Ace sometimes, but what Ace would that be ? He would raise it pre most likely adn if not why raising the flop than? AJ is blocked by the board, my hand and I am not that convinced that he would raise it on this kind of a dry board every time, maybe he can have A9 some times but that's about it. He still has 55 and 99 as his value hands - if my hand is good on the flop it should be good on this turn most of the time + I have a nut fd now, so I'm not going anywhere just yet.
RIVER
9 comes and now pretty much every value hand he was repping is blocked by the board. 55 and maybe AJ is the only thing that he can represent now and he instantly shoves for the remaining stack, wouldn't you at least think a bit what to do here with AJ ?. So I tanked a bit asking myself If I really want to do this and decided to go with my guts. To be honest - I was expecting to see a random 9 - I would just shrug my shoulders and move on.
So there isn't just my hand on the river to consider but the whole story. He was saying on the flop "I have the nuts or nothing" and the run out kept taking aways hes nutty combos.
It would be much easier If I could play you the hand and show you what I mean - on paper you can just analyze whaterer you want however you want - its a lot different in real time.
Sometimes something feels OFF. You can't put your finger on it, but due to how ppl tend to play, their sizing or timing you can just TELL something seems off - I tend to trust my reads, the run-out was a big help tho.
Maybe I'll do a post on timing tells combined with something you can look for on R&C to see if some1 will be more inclined to bluff.
I need to start reading carefully before I post - i make so many mistakes it takes several edits to fix it
