Turn: ($1.26) 8♦ (2 players)
Hero bets $5.48 (all-in), CO calls $5.48

Does it make sense to fast play my hand on the turn?

depends on villain, but why not. 90 % + are loosing players, therefor they call too light making - ev calls all over the place.
If he has A high flush its obv a cooler, but you can expect villain to pay you off with straights sets even two pairs.
This is just exploititive play.

and on the micros sometimes just getting it in with the nuts or second nuts why not.

I would not do it everytime, for example you could just overbet the turn, by just shoving its harder for villain to make mistakes.

I've been burned quite a few times overplaying 2nd nuts, but here it seems to have worked for you.
