villain was basically an unknown but his checking to river was suspicious as he shouldn't have many Aces in his range by the river

It's tough to call the river with only a bluff catcher. Even some bluffing hands like 77 you can't beat here.

77 isn't bluffing unless he's dumb

In this type of spot, you can use some basic GTO concepts to determine your default strategy.

What are you check/calling Flop and checking River? I think you almost always lead the River with an Ace. You occasionally go for the checkraise with a boat.

This leaves you with 54s, 55, 77, 88, 99, TT
I would consider check/raise bluffing with 54s occasionally (if you have that in your SB preflop calling range)
Def fold 55.
Usually call 99/TT
88/77 is close and depends on opponent's tendencies and bet size

Vs his pot bet you should defend half of your bluffcatchers, so probably 88-TT call and fold rest (or fold 88 and checkraise 54s while calling TT/99)

For me preflop fold. If not than fold flop, from UTG expect many AT+, Axs, medium pairs +.
