Thank you Vorpal for your prompt answr, as always. I've read those and hence the reason I asked, because I'm not sure whether the relevant rule is clear enough. Does social media count as personal contact info? Skype address is allowed, and IMO that is more personal than an Instagram name... but if I was the moderator, in your shoes I would disagree and interpret it as its not explicitly stated so its not allowed! So I guess I wanted clarity, as I don't want to fall foul of the rules. Unlike some forums, this one only has a few sensible ones to abide with.

It is allowed to post Skype addresses in forum posts, albeit at your own risk as posting your Skype address can pose a potential security risk for your Skype account (the same applies for any other instant messenger services you might use).
• It is not allowed to post any other personal contact information including, but not limited to, email addresses, home addresses and phone numbers

Another problem is that you are basic member and with the basic status you can't post links.
To get a bronze status you can use 1 or more of our free money offers on poker rooms you don’t have an account yet. If it you already have signed in for a room you need to read the instructions well and it can take up to 2 business days before you get the free money. If that's not a option you can buy a status-upgrade.

 Twitch channel
 Youtube channel

I'm going to guess that others have posted twitter accounts and the like, and I just never noticed.
If anyone does post things like facebook or instagram contact info they leave themselves open to a whole world of hurt — but no worse than a twitch channel.

Personally, I'm extremely careful. Not surprisingly "Vorpal Swordsman" is not my birth name.

Do as you see fit.

SDK, thanks for the info, although I know I'm not the only new community member stuck on basic whilst we wait for the next round of strategy points to be credited (from which ever site that does only periodic updates) so that we can upgrade 😊

EDIT: And thanks, Vorpal - I have posted a link to a video of a poker hand today, and its from my own instagram, so I have edited it out and will replace with the generic GG version. This was a geniune mistake - however, how would you interpret that? It's not posting contact details but a link to a video for the thread to discuss. The URL contains the info needed to find the Instagram name, so I'd guess the rule is contravened? But also, if the link was somewhere else it would be fine. Confused! Erring on the side of caution but it's something to be aware of. Some channels on these sorts of things randomise URLs with random characters whilst others don't. Hmm.

The one I do find really ambiguous is the posting of videos and the like from ones own account/channel. It's not overtly giving contact details, but such may be contained within the URL, or even if the URL is random characters (and therefore totally disguised) the link is to one's own channel and therefore the contact information is revealed (probably) upon the clicking of the link.

Where I in the moderators shoes, I'd find this a difficult one to deal with. It may be purely accidental, as its not a direct dishing out of said details, or conversely it may be totally deliberate in the knowledge that it looks like an innocent mistake! I don't envy you in such situations. But maybe I'm just suspicious of people's intentions when I've been faced with these things in the past as a mod 😂.

You'll note that our forum principles are "principles" not laws nor even rules. As such there is supposed to be leeway built in.

For me, where I draw the line is when a member appears to be self-promoting for the purposes of attracting PokerStrategy.com members to their own coaching site.

It is physically impossible for mods to read every post, but we do skim them, and it may surprise you how many end up in the trash.

Other rules, such as profanity are also pretty lax, since we're all supposed to be adults. So generally the occasional "fuck" or "bullshit" doesn't really detract from the overall congenial atmosphere, but personal attack posts get deleted fast.

BTW, it is really comforting to mods when members think and question the rules.
If you see things that you think need changing, or would improve the forums, there is the feedback and suggestions board.

Dammit, so I didn't need to edit out my link? Arrrrgh, so I could have gotten away with that sneaky bit of self promotion of my instagram!!!! 🤣 only joking - but glad to see common sense does prevail, and also I appreciate the appreciation. FWIW my insta isn't a coaching etc. place, just a pictorial form of a bankroll blog (since all you can do on Instagram is post still/moving pictures and give them at most a paragraph-long caption). If I could post pics here, I'd just have a blog here. Maybe when my account upgrades.
