It is a public laundry. In the olden days, when we didn't own machines of our own, we saved up coins and laundry. When we had 5 loads or so we'd haul it there. Five loads was $1 each to wash, $1 each to dry, but the dryers would take two wash loads.

I just had a look to see what prices are now, and they range from $2 to $8 per load. No coins needed though...

Most of them had a drop off service, where if you paid double (or so) they would do all your laundry for you and you could pick it up on your way home from work.

That was my favorite service once. Also make sure to use the public 24/7 gym for $10/month if you don't have a shower.

My hometown's public indoor pool has been operating on a membership basis for a few decades now, after previously struggling to stay afloat as a commercial pool. People would pay an annual fee to cover all operating costs etc, and in return could use the pool as often as they like.

Maybe 10 to 20 years ago, I heard that some people who lived around the corner from that pool would buy a membership just so they could quickly go over there for their daily shower, and save money in the long run by cutting back on their water bill - not to mention that they could always go for a swim while they are at it, whenever they liked.

By now, I think this approach is no longer feasible, not only because the membership fees have risen since, but also because the system got changed somewhat, only allowing a limited amount of visits per year before you would have to pay extra. It would still allow easily 1-2 visits per week, I think, so it's still perfectly fine for real swimming, but less so for the free daily showers for people in the close vicinity.

Hahahaha, thank you very much, that would be nice, but that was definitely NOT ME! I only write here. Could be another "Primrose" somewhere else?

I´m a self-employed Medical Writer, I have a regular work. :) I´m just a recreational player, an ambitious one, though. :f_biggrin: Yeah, got some ambitions, but my daily bread and butter comes from Medical Writing. :f_wink:

Medical writer by day, mysterious cash game pro by night. That sounds like a Netflix special.

Maybe there´s another dark secret life? Maybe I just claim being a "Medical Writer" and winning at CG while I make my money by selling some "good chemical stuff"? :f_wink::f_ugly: :mdr::mdr::mdr::mdr::mdr::mdr:

Dr. Morton, we got a patient here!

That´s right and the patient is ME! As everybody is plagued by the common cold here, it didn´t take too long until it got me too!

Its bed, hot tea and hot soup instead of PLO and Holdem!!:rage: Even my Cash Queen Pom Pom fell over .... :f_o: But "Dr." Morton Koopa jr. takes over and gives me one or two nice comfort cuddles (he´s extremely cuddly!). :f_love:

Really sorry to hear about that, Prim. :f_cry: And we even had big plans for tomorrow... ah well, we will still find something nice to do. :f_love:

At least we won't have to worry about infecting each other now, with me being in the last stages of the sniffles now too.

Get some good rest today, and get well soon.

Not sure about Dr Morton, though... :f_biggrin: Maybe that's a job better suited for your PLO-mascot?

My PLO mascot is unfortunately small (the plush doll), "Dr." Morton is just right: big, soft and super cuddly! :f_love:

Why suffering alone?

It´s "much nicer" to suffer together, right? That´s why I infected Homer (my husband), too!! :f_ugly:

So, pretty much everybody infected now, no tennis practice today of course! But I´m already on the way to getting better, there could be a couple of freerolls today at least. :f_biggrin:
