So why the frustration? - Because we were unlucky in our MTTs, because just busted out of the Big Quarter Final (ok, qualified for free) and ONLY got this little bit, no bounty nothing, card-dead, lost with a full house. Because we´ve been card-dead the whole week and didn´t qualify a second time for the Big Quarter yet!!!! Grrr! :facepalm::rage:
This is why CASH IS QUEEN!

Comfy BR and the table bully
Today not only work, but also CG has started in 2026! Actually, Pom Pom and I just wanted the practice a bit GTO, wanted to take it easy, but we ended up as beeing the table bullies. :f_biggrin::f_ugly: At least at most of our tables. You cannot bully a hyper-aggressive all-in jamming Morton Koopa of course - one of those were at our tables - and sucked out on us with T8o, while we held QQ (glad, he wasn´t here with full stack). We had to take another loss with a set vs JQs who had hit (blind on blind) top pair and flush draw, jammed flop and got there. But the rest went fine, except for loosing concentration after a while and playing poo poo. 
Nevertheless, most of our moves succeeded and we cannot complain about lack of solid hands. So, what went crappy in the tournaments (were freerolls and cheap MTTs anyway) went well in CG - almost! Glad to be back at the CG-tables! 
Aaaaaw! No increasing blinds, no hurry, no desperate jams, just pure technique and some skill (well, what we got so far)!
While PLO went a bit crappy, Holdem went okay. And Pom Pom is scolding me and Junior: Hey, 21,21 $ from the Big Quarter and that for free: That´s 10 and a half CG-stacks and now a really really comfy BR!! It showed in our mental game. Suck out? So what? But we also had to be careful not to go over-confident and playing too loose and sloppy! So, that´s something I should carefully watch - or take the first shots at NL5.
The first CG-session in 2026 was quite nice: roughly one stack up!
By the way: Average/normal work-load at the moment. That´s good!

The power of a LAG .... and why Harrier SCREAMED!!!
Thursday is as usual CG-day, so my Cash Queen Pom Pom and I hit the tables after work and sports. Noticed that sports is also a great help for the mental game - I´m so much more patient, calm and easy when I hit the table after a nice workout. I´ve started strength training (Crossfit), because it´s absolutely necessary for injury prevention at 50 plus and also for preventing muscle loss at this age.
After everything was done - and "Sonny" started cleaning the bedroom - we hit the tables in a nice and good mood. Slowly, we´re leaving ABC-TAG-poker behind us and start experimenting with LAG style, while we´re alternating between the two - depending on Villains of course. And I´m glad to see that we have a LOT more fun-player Villains at the CG-tables! :f_biggrin::f_thumbsup:
Yes, it showed! Right at the beginning of our session. Hyper-hyper-aggro-all-in-happy Villains, I didn´t bother, I just jammed pre:

Prim: Don´t worry, we got a nice comfy BR!
Harrier: Whoah, if this was an MTT, YOU would SCREAM!
Prim: You´re right, but look: We didn´t bust, we get it back soon!

After a while we indeed got it back.

My GTO-knowledge is still rudimentary, but working on it: slowly. Don´t need much GTO yet at NL2 but it´s not bad to start and practice it early. While many Villains today were hyper-hyper-aggro-fun-players with no clue, there were a couple of people, we could put under pressure! So, while experimenting, this hand occured, which shows the power of a LAG (or ...well...wanna-be-LAG so far, but working on it!).
I had played TAG for a while, and then switched to LAG:
Besides those hands, there were not many showdowns, we got "da pot" just by applying pressure - and making Villains fold, while not all bluffs got through, but most of them.
Despite the SCREAMING suck-out :f_biggrin::f_ugly: we´re again: roughly one stack up!

Prim was just laughing, and true, I mentioned to her that I seemed to tilt more than she did. Which I found remarkable, because I noticed in our chats, at least, that those kinds of situations can frustrate her quite a bit in tournaments, where I would then try to keep her spirits up. In cash games, it seems to be the opposite. That also appears to be the opposite for me - not that my mental game in MTT is any good, it can be downright terrible at times, but situations like this would bother me more in a cash game than in a tournament.It looks like Primrose and I are in many ways like yin and yang, even in our preferred poker formats.
Harrier, in an MTT I would SCREAM, I would cry, I would curse Villain, I would curse poker, curse everything .... because I´m OUT and there´s no second change!! Well sometimes there is the second bullet, but mostly I´m fed up at that point and a second bullet may not be worth it anymore.
In Cash you just reload and continue ..... and let´s see what happens next... you have time, you´re not under pressure of increasing blinds, you have all the time in the world... nobody throws you from the table because you´ve lost a stack?! :f_biggrin::f_ugly:
Cash is QUEEN when .....
you don´t feel like tournament poker at the weekends and when you are EAGER to try out some moves, you just learned from your book! So, my Cash Queen and I sat down for a bit of weekend-CG, we had a nice tournament winning yesterday with a 2nd place in the 0,22 $ PLO8 (15 $) Gtd. which resulted in another "CG-stack" (+ 2,65 $). Our BR is now really comfy for NL2 and we get a bit more aggro, more creative, we dare some moves and that´s important for learning and developing our game. I was so happy when the moves we learned worked out and another one for maximizing our winnings really perfectly worked out. So, we will keep that up...! ♠_thumbsup: Let´s say: We 3-bet and 4-bet more and apply much more pressure! ♠_evil:
Of course we messed up here and there, that´s part of the learning process - but hey, we can afford that! :f_wink::f_biggrin: The weather is crappy here, Sunday-tennis-practice is over now, so we got our Sundays for ......... whatever we want .... like poker! ♠_biggrin: But if you don´t wanna sit at the tables for hours and hours, CG is pretty much the way to go (or SNG or DON but I don´t grind those anymore).
We got some nice hands, AA were cracked twice, we messed up here and there by experimenting, a long card-dead phase struck us, but at the end of the session, we´re roughly one stack up! ♠_thumbsup:
