i honestly like villain's bluff too, blocking my nut range and the straight against my line that seems overpair-heavy.
this motherfucker stacked my AA with a set in a 3-bet pot earlier, may have been feeling confident
he might be one of the better regs, i'll keep an eye on him.
Hi Tomaloc,
What is the reason for you to cbet under 1/2 of the pot on this coordinated board against two players? I see a lot of regs in pokerstars are using this 30-35% cbet. Shouldn't we in this spots where calling range from BB and perhaps SB includes many hands that hit the flop we get maximum value?

hi, it's a good question.
in multi-way pots, the "burden of defense" is divided among all defenders, so we must bet a stronger range than usual.
this is a flop where the nut advantage is fairly distributed among all players - all of us have 65, 88, 77, 44, 87 (SB may be more weighted towards pairs). we are the only player with overpairs, but overpairs actually aren't too happy here.
i am sure that you know all of that, of course. but, what does it mean?
we don't need to bet large in order to represent strength, just the fact that we are betting is already very strong. since the nut advantage is evenly distributed, but we want to bet a lot of non-nut hands (overpairs), we should pick a sizing that allows us to value-bet our overpairs, without overplaying our hand. then, naturally, we put all other hands we're betting (nuts and draws) in that sizing, as well.
the turn is better for villains than for us, of course, since the proportion of 8x in their ranges is considerably higher. in that sense, it'd very reasonable for us to check our entire range.
i bet small as an exploit - it's perfect for our hand to bet small because we want draws to still call, and it makes my hand look like one-pair trying to freeze-bet IP for a free showdown ("can't call" against relentless aggression, as villain has all the full houses, straight and 8x). BB takes the bait, and the rest is history.
Now you have the nuts so obviously you don't have an issue when he shoves all in on the river.
Would you play similarly if you'd just have a set for example? Or do you expect someone shoving this way to have more bluffs than strong hands?

no, i was expecting to cooler the guy most of the time.
since both opponents are regs, i'm inclined to check any hands that aren't full houses to protect our check-behinds, as per what was said (if river doesn't complete draws, we can even overbet it). if we take this exact same line with pure 8x, we're in a tough spot, as villain can have all full houses and most straights. we should probably call higher 8x (that still beat the opponent's lower 8x).
since i'm betting small with all my full houses and quads on the turn, that means that when i check-behind, i never have the stone cold nuts, and thus villain can exploit my intended delayed river bet by check-jam bluffing at a higher frequency. of course, that's never going to happen

Nice to see you back!
300,000 hands is "somewhat recent?"
One interesting thing about the graph is the upsurge in $won when non-showdown winnings drops.
Cheers,

yes, i played over 500k hands in 2025.
i ran about 60 buy-ins below EV in the NL10 portion, but NL25 gave it back... ![]()

I found the same. I do better in NLHE at NL 25 than I ever did at NL 10. At least on PokerStars. I don't play NLHE cash anywhere elseOriginally posted by Tomaloc

it is what it is...I was only ever tracked on iPoker, and no iPoker sites are available in Canada, so I wouldn't know.
my winrates have always been comparatively horrible at NL25 of all limits, including now... but if i'm going to be a god of flips, that more than compensates.
