Possibly controversial question: Do you guys think it is acceptable to eat chili with a spoon?

I personally believe it isn't.

Why should that be?

I don't know, it seems weird... I definitely prefer a fork for it.

In general, I don't think I would ever like to use a spoon for anything that isn't liquid or a dessert. Can't think of any exceptions right now. I would use a spoon for pasta, but only as a substitute for the knife, not the fork - and I have heard that this is usually considered unacceptable in Italy.

OK — remembering full banhauser here.
How thick is the chili?
If it's thick enough to be served on a plate: fork
If it's thin enough to require a bowl: spoon
Pasta:
Small bits like macaroni, fork on its own. A knife as a pusher if needed.
Long skinny pasta like spaghetti, spaghettini or linguini: fork, but use the spoon to twist the pasta around it. I do this in restaurants or when we have company, or when I am somebody else's company.
At home? I put the spaghetti on a plate, and take a knife and fork and cut the entire mess into teensy pieces then eat it with a fork.

Chinese noodles: chopsticks. I use chopsticks entirely incorrectly, but can still pick up individual grains of rice with chopsticks. I [hate/i] the plastic chopsticks you get these days. The bamboo ones were way better, but restaurants locally have long abandoned them.

went shopping this morning.
I left early so I would get there just as the store opened.
As I walk up, there are people coming out with fully loaded carts.

It turns out they open up to an hour before their posted time.
Good to know

My brothers were discussing the Olympics.
I realized that I don't care.
Then I began to wonder why I don't care. Is it me?
Then I realized that I don't care that I don't care.

Mid-month is tomorrow, and there are only three days in the next 14 where the temperature is expected to go below 0C — and even then, it is only overnight..
