Burnt out grinder with(out) teeth

Hi guys, time to wrap up this month now!

So I played some hands on NL5 and NL25. NL5 is the level I seem to beat easily at any time of day, in nearly any condition (some downswing can be seen on my one friday night, though ♦!). NL25 is a level where I'm able to survive, but I really need to have my thoughts on the game, otherwise it's going down quickly.

So, just to put graphs. First NL5 (and some NL2 hands in the beginning mostly):

Hands: 7376 (way too low volume, I'm aiming for at least 15k next month!)

All in all, a good month with some decent income, though I had to withdraw close to 200d already..

I'm playing like 28/22 there. Stealing a lot versus tight players from bu and avoiding opening too many marginal hands from early positions. That works well on NL5 as people will give plenty of value and on the contrary, they are giving up way too often against aggression (even single cbet). The second factor that helps is to give up against nearly any raise as people are practically never raising with fd's and stuff, unlike on NL25.

And now, while I'm here on English side updating, here's the graph for my monthly MTT/SNG's. Not that much volume due to school, but we'll cope with that:

Solid results. Hopefully I can do even better in the future as MTT's seem to go well atm. Downswing might hit anytime though, but now I'm a lot better player in them than I was like one year ago when I was able to win some PokerSchool Online freerolls and those hubble's.

My time will come.

It has been a long while since I last time posted here as a blog format. Quick recap:

Life took a big hit and I lost interest in poker for a long time. I am suffering from severe burn out, which limits my play and studies a lot. However, last year I started grinding poker again, not that often, but still getting to the game, studying theory, trying solvers etc. Results? I got fed up with the game again, crushing NL2 with ease but barely breaking even in NL5.

Until I had an epiphany. I became enlightened with my limited 2 hours per day activity time. I have learned the theory but I had forgotten the aspect that made me succesful NL10-25 player back in the day: exploitative play. I gained it back by watching certain master's videos from Youtube. Use theory, but exploit the heck out of the players.

Results in NL5 after these videos? I can play 1-2 hrs per day as I get tired very easily, but this is the result from this month with the newfound knowledge:

Seriously, now the NL5 doesn't feel boring at all. People are just full of leaks and tells, just asking to hand their money over to me. Level that felt unbeatable is now very beatable, even with the small hand sample.

I was about to dig a hand example where I really did them good, but just showing one here with exploits and thoughts.

Preflop: standard open, villain pretty much unknown. Against fishier opponents we open bigger.
Flop: cbet P33 on a board where villain doesn't have that much of a hand. They don't always have a flush draw out there. They snap-called.

Turn: We keep barreling a bit bigger on a blank, trying to extract value from pocket pairs, flush draws and weaker Qx. They called again here.

River: villain tank checks, which usually indicates a "real" hand. With sets and stuff they would have raised flop or turn. The board runout looks like I could have missed flush draw or some random maniac bluff. Usually I don't go for overpot with top pair, but on this board with villain's timing tells (and two calls) I went overpot - they either have x/f hand that will fold no matter what sizing I use or they will call very bluffy looking overpot bet with top-pair.

I will keep updating this whenever I feel like it or then I will take 5 years break again. Until next time!

I have been exhausted lately. I grinded my bankroll to high enough level though to take shots at NL10. 3 sessions played, 64 BB / 100 winrate at the moment. Not sustainable in the long run, but lets enjoy this as long as it lasts. Seems like on NL10 people are using overbets a bit more than at NL5, but not necessarily at right spots

Yes my friend poker can be extremely exhausting. Nice to see you are already taking shots at no limit 10 and i wish you good luck.

So, it has been quite quiet for a while for me. My burnout has taken a strong toll and the volume hasn't really been there. However, despite running bad in many situations, I have increased my bankroll since the start of the challenge for over 70 dollars. This has been due to exploiting players in NL10 as stated in the previous posts. To be honest, most players play very face up and I don't have to be too balanced there. Playing big pots when they don't have it if I bluff and playing bigger pots when I have it and they have some, too. Also, had to do a lot of disciplined laydowns when opponent's range has been too value heavy.

Hopefully I can give you guys more detailed updates soon. And I really hope I am not too tired to play:f_rolleyes:
