I will have a smallish pause from poker now for some days. I have a nasty flue that seems to be taking me down. I have noticed that everytime I'm ahed when we go all-in (which is often) they seem to be beating me for good. And sometimes when I'm behind I manage to make it back. Very weird game tbh. Perhaps it's not for me as luck will play such a major role even in long-term, and I have lacked of luck a lot lately.

I've been doing some essay preparations today considering some topics such as The ethics of historian. Hard to concentrate while you are sick, but no can do.

Hi people,

Sorry for not updating in a long time. I have had so much to do lately with my university studies and with the Finnish Pokerstrategy.com part of the forum that I haven't had too much time for you guys! It's just so hard to try to keep up 2 blogs, but I will try my best ;)!

So, ATM I'm playing (again) NL25 on Pokerstars. I got close to NL50, but my studies are indeed expensive so I had to withdraw decent amount of money. I was in 500 dollars or so at one time. After that I've been grinding and withdrawing, not making that much progress on the levels. But my game has developed a lot!

So, I'm not gonna give you any updates on my NL25 success tonight. Topic is: how to maximize your value on micros. I'm tired ass today, So I went on to a little adventure on NL2, having some strategies:

1. Don't bluff
2. Maximize your value.

First part didn't went that well as I was a bit too tired and sometimes tried to bluff people that I shouldn't bluff. However:

This was the result for the short session. Not that much run good, but man, those guys have only 2 button on the software ♦ Call and fold. Other one is used a lot, the other is used only on river versus 3bb bet when your draw misses...

Then the 2nd part was to maximize your value. We all know that standard cbet sizing (NOTE! There is no "standard" in NLHE, you can use your own and adjust after playing a while) is 2/3-3/4 of pot, sometimes in some spots 1/2. Now I tried to think outside of the box and use sizes like 3x pot or only 1/12 of pot or so when it seemed like the right one.

One good example: We know our villain called 2 streets. He might or might not call the river, whether we bet 1/2 pot or overpot. He still has the call or fold button...

While overpotting might lose some value from time to time, you should still consider using it. On higher stakes - even from NL10 to above versus regs - it's quite a good way for bluffing, too, if you don't overuse it.

Just my 2 cents here. I was 2 lazy to find any 3bb river bluff for you. Just think of this concept, I'll be back :)!

Today was overall quite good, got +3 BI and stuff. I noticed that during my 3rd session I wasn't too concentrated anymore and I saw myself leaking a big amount of money in an instance. On the contrary, I was still able to play my B-game and stop before it went to C. So yes, I'm quite satisfied, especially for the first 2 sessions. Currently it seems like NL25 is a limit I can beat, unlike it was for a while ago. I'm listing quickly some reasons, why so:

1. I don't 3-bet that wide from BB versus steal positions
- I have that 3-bet range which has more than enough bluffs and value combos. I'm 3-betting hands that have some sort of playability versus a call

2. Developing a check range on flop/turn
- This has been quite important, too. I don't have to cbet every pot and lose 4-5 more bb's/pot when something just hits someone's range hard. Neither IP or OOP. However, OOP I have balanced this by ch/raising some sets or even strong 2p versus guys who love to bet vs missed cbet ♦

3. Not overleveling
- Sometimes it might seem like some boards would be good for one to check/raise with air. Or to 4-bet vs my 3-bet on that board. Or sometimes we may overthink that a nit has developed a bluff 4-bet range.. No way ♠_confused: ♠_confused:!

Those have increased my winrate like 4-5bb/100 at least tbh. Small leaks made quite huge stream back then, but now I'm able to play small ball with hands that I want to etc!

So, I will post a small analyze and results here, too.

I played today 2x 50 min session NL25 and 1x 30min session. First two were good, first one better than the second, and on third I was able to play my A- -game for a while. At some point I dropped to B-game and it was close for me to start a losing streak. Well, the AA hand saved a bit.

After that I did some house keeping and then took another shot at...

NOTORIOUS, YET UNBEATABLE NL2

Indeed, I was wondering If I should become the first NL2 pro player in the world It's just way too easy to click buttons and collect all possible profits there and make a fortune. Way too easy..

Anyway, some results:

Conclusion: I think that I am not on a heater at NL2 tbh. I think holding a winrate way above 50bb/100 is actually possible. You just have to do your best and avoid speww (I even had +2d on red line today!)

On NL25 I'm quite confident that I'm beating the games. However, I'm not so sure that winrate +20bb is sustainable. My WR has been between 15-20 for 2 weeks though, but my volume isn't so huge that you could make any assumptions. We will see if that will correct. I will try to enjoy it as long as it lasts!

For my final statement, here's a hand and typical play from NL2 players.. I just CAN'T figure it out what are they trying to do with their small bets...

So, after hard day of university I discovered yet again that I'm out of juice for bigger limits, so decided to see whether I'm still able to beat NL2.

I was, I was doing 80 bb/100 yet again and thought that maybe I could play tired in NL5, too. So I took a jump there...

And all in all, got 1,5k hands, overall winrate of 51,32 bb/100 ♠_biggrin: ♠_biggrin: Seems like IF I would start playing on NL5 and play it some hours/day I could earn some nice income without thinking a lot... Seems like an interesting idea. Had some runbad during the session, though, and I wasn't able to hit a spot on NL5 to use my superb overbet strategy for max value (okay, did 1 or 3 times it, but not more..)

Best news here: I even ran 4d under EV ♦

Villain was aggro, yeah, so far bet vs missed on flop and turn 100 %. He was cbetting all the time, too. When I raise flop I have some draws as well as 2p+ in my range, so when he just calls I put him on a draw or even some strong Kx, never set.

River isn't as bad one as it completes JK, but all in all nothing else. His range is very weak here and he might even jam sometimes with KQ against my ch, so easy ch/call here vs HIM!

And a second hand I like a lot... Villain was a bit nittish PRE-flop, so when he 3-bets that huge I put him on a strong hand, QQ+, AK mostly. So no need to 4-bet as we are flipping most likely. Easy call pre-flop as he ain't folding QQ...

Flop is best one for us ever, so call here. Turn is a brick and he checks, so I took a small stabb as we will get our money in by the river anyway. Now he obviously spotted some weakness here...
