At the moment I'm reading Moshman's book on HU, and I'm also looking for a coach to whom I will give part of my profits, with the condition that he teaches me everything he knows and he can beat at least the low stakes.
If any of you is good enough at HU and wants to coach me, don't hesitate to contect me.
For those of you who replyed to this post here are the results:
Results:
Hero had A
, 8
(one pair, nines).
BB had Q
, K
(one pair, nines).
Outcome: Hero won t2940
Yes, I won the hand, but I'm not a result oriented player. I don't say I've took the right decision because I won. Here's my rationalization from when I played the hand:
I raise preflop and he called, so he's likely to be on high cards. His range would be something like: AX, Kx, Qx, 22+, JT and some mid-low connectors.
Now I bet pot on the flop, and he min raises. I narrow his range: Ax (most likely A9), Kx(most likely K9), JT, T9, any pair exept for the ones that make a set. Notice a streight or a set is out of question here, cause he would have slowplayed such a strong hand.
On the turn another 9 comes, and he goes all in in a small pot. Now I'm sure he doesn't have the 9, because again, he would have bet pot at most on such a powerfull hand. A streight is the only hand that makes sence here (he goes all in on streight hopeing I have trip nines), but we have eliminated this posiblity on the flop. So his range narrows to a pocket pair, JT, Kx and A+.
A big pocket pair is not very likely cause he would have probably raised preflop. A small one is not likely either because he would have been scared of all the overcards, so there aren't many pairs he could hold.
So atm, he can only beat me with a pocket pair, but I'd still have at least 6 or 7 outs to improve on the river on that.
His most likely holdings are Kx and Ax. Now against Kx i'm the favorite, and aginst Ax I will be good sometimes, and I'll have 7 outs the other times.
This is a close call, a fold would have been on okey play 2, but when equity of call is close to equity of fold, I like to call cause if I hit I put my opponents on tilt, and if I don't, at least I create the impresion of a player that doens't have to have the nuts to go all in.
I hope this makes sence. Luck.
