This is my first hand to submit.. I tried to play like I had hit the A on the flop - he just kept playing like a calling-station. Should I even have entered the pot from start? What to do?

In my opinion after he called the flop it should have been check/fold on the turn or river, if he called you he obviously had a piece of that flop and I doubt he would have called with a pair of 5's so what were you hoping to get value out of with those bets on the turn/river? Just play low pocket pairs for setmining and contibet the flop if you were the initial raiser because you usually can represent the ace, if you get called its pretty easy to know where you stand in the hand and it's an easy check / fold.

And welcome to the forums! Good to see new names posting their hands and trying to get better. Hopefully we will see more hands from you in the future.

About the play, I'd just Check/Fold the flop since our plan preflop was to Call for set value. And when we didn't hit then just give it up. But as you decided to Bet the flop and he Called then likely give up the turn.
