Ok so you raised the river? You've got to take into account that he could be trapping you. And what else would he call with apart from a flush that's gonna pay you off? probably an A if he's a weaker player but it's not worth the risk. as soon as you got re-raised you should know he has the flush also. He bet the flop, he had either an A or a flush draw, turns out he had both lol but; a re-raise would of been nice for you on the flop, if he calls he's got something, when the next diamond comes out its upto you to make the choice. You can make the choice by observing how he plays... he isn't gonna bet an A here if he has it because he's probably scared of the flush himself. If he raises it's a fold unless you have a read on the player that he likes to bluff but as soon as you see the diamond it's time to slow down and try to play it 'till the end without putting much more in the pot.

Definitely raise bigger on the flop, about $2.50, as played I don't mind, however by the river either you will see JQ, JT or better hands such as weirdly played two pairs/sets, with such a good price and having 4:1 pot odds you can't fold.

I am not sure what is the question in the hand though, can you be more specific?
