Thoughts on this one?

I 3bet because he had stole a fair bit, and I felt KQ strong enough post flop to do it.

Annoying setup!

But, should I have raised him on that river? I suppose my line of thinking was a bit off really;

Unlikely to have an 8, or he's hit quads, and 87/89 is out of the question here (tight player overall - 16/9/1).

Thankfully he didn't shove or raise on the river and I didn't go broke...

me thinks you thinks correctly

preflop: when re-stealing you should bet a bit more - 3x bet+ pot or 4x.

flop: we have to give villains credit for having an ace in such spots, but since he checks we want to represent an ace and cbet is good.

turn: 8 doesn't change anything, so I'd actually prefer to fire another barrel here, 2/3 or so and fold if villain re-raises

river: as played, we are only behind AQ, AA and 88, all of which should've raised previously. So, villains bet looks like a block bet more than anything. Me thinks your raise is fine here, since you will most often up against A2-A6 or trips. I would actually bet a bit more for value... (this is the part where you posting final results totally messes up the advising :f_biggrin:)

Hello Jim4rdo,

Preflop: I'd actually as well raise it at least $0,24.
Postflop: Not much to say, I would have played the same way. No way I am just Calling the river with almost the nuts. Funny how passive sometimes people play their strong hands. Definitely note such a player down! One thing actually we could do and raise a bit bigger on river but that's not that big mistake.
