Lots of people lose their BR by making a mistake - learn from it & stick to BRM.. but play how you want. If you play poker to for the feeling of a gamble - then push it :rolleyes:

Oh and I dont think I would gamble my life.. money is just not worth it ^^ even at a 1/1000 chance. Thats why I would force someone to play for me. :f_biggrin:

How is he trolling and how is this your thread? This is his thread, and if his story is true, it's you guys who are trolling. I believe the guy because i belive in giving people the benefit of doubt and i believe in Sherlock Holmes. Now tell me why should we fold quad Ks. We are noobs so we ask noob questions. Now, you grown ups be nice please.

You also obviously didn't read the thread, right? :f_confused: Or didn't understand what replies were serious and wich not...

There is no point in saying fold quads or not. The thing is there was a chance of loosing and it happened (regardless of if the stroy is true or not...). The point of all this is - there is a thing called BANKROLL MANAGMENT wich is there for cases just like this.

This isn't high school any more. Among adults who know themselves and are secure in their sexuality, "gay" is not considered an insult.

Your post also violates the TOS.

In reality, though, we put everything on the line when we choose our careers, when we choose our spouses etc etc.

If you've ever gone in to business for yourself, you risk your entire savings, house, car -- all of it is on the line.

If indeed the OP is telling the truth, and I was in his position, though, I would not take the bet.

Why not? Even at 96%, there is no element of control. In all the other "big risks" you maintain an element of control

The given proposition would ONLY appear if the person offering it had Aces.
The possibility of a set-up exists if this is done with real cards, and I didn't cut them.

So for me -- nah, let's just play as is.

That all being said, put 4 kings in my hand and ask me again. Who knows what excitement will do.

No. Not because of the risk of loss, but because the money would thus be tainted.

On the topic of risking it all, Rudyard Kipling had this to say:

IF

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

If Rudyard is right, not many human males on earth can be called Men--and not many human females, either (if that makes any sense). Maybe Jesus was a Man, and maybe Buddha, but forget about everyone else. I know _I_ certainly don't measure up to Kipling's definition, and have yet to acquire solid, long-term knowledge of any living person who does.

EDIT: I wonder if this is partly why most people under age 30 talk about "guys" and "girls" rather than "men" and "women," even when discussing people their own age.

Hi guys,

I've been following the posts all day and I am glad to see that everyone is recommending to anfaroloco to ALWAYS apply BRM.

And... of course there are some ugly comments which was really unnecessary to say as probably the cooler was enough of a head ache to handle for anfaroloco. right? :f_biggrin:

Thank you for all your contribution and hoping you don't mind if I end the conversation here as the subject has more than met it sell by date :]

Sleep tight :club:
