When the SEALS were given the mission the commander told them "We think we found Bin Laden, were going to kill him" The SEALS then started to cheer. it was a kill operation.
I think if U.S. arrested him he might have to get tried in a international court which they might not have much control over, he may get released or broken out or who knows. Killing him avoids all of this and ends it.
More news today was released on CNN, they were painting the picture that Osama was very confused and scared during the raid( supposdly he threw his wife at the SEALS b4 they shot him, I doubt he resisted at all.
I am not sure I would want to be dancing round my most reconised building celebrating the death of a man with his track record
