Nice EV line discussion

The EV line only adjusts for how you do in all-in situations (as Ghaleon, Prim and others have said). There are many other types of luck -- in any format, tourney or cash game -- including how frequently you're dealt premium hands and the types of setups that occur. For example, you're dealt KK in SB and BB has AA, you get it all-in pre and lose. In this hand, you're lucky to be dealt a high PP, very unlucky that BB has the one higher PP, and slightly unlucky to lose getting it in as a 20-80. But the EV adjustment will only look at this last type of luck, that you had 20% equity yet ended up with 0% of the pot.

This week on the coaching ... daring Finnish reg MachtiSonni will come on and play live SNGs and spins. I've known Teemu for a number of years, played with him both online and in Vegas live games, and he's an incredibly creative player who's also accomplished a ton outside of poker (including being on a reality singing competition). He's now grinding mainly $100 spins but he has a background in SNGs and we can probably convince him to load most formats you guys want to see

Definitely don't want to miss this one!

No. Your play may be correct and good but at the moment more hands hold up than in statistics, this means that most of your hands hold, you win flips, which you loose in 50 % of the times, but at the moment when you win f.e. more than 50 % of your flips, you run above EV.

What about the trash hands I push with, that win? they gotta contribute right?

Bestina, That's a very good question. I believe they are probably beatable by a small amount even with the large rake, and I think you would see a lot more regs playing them in the old rakeback days.

I have a question for you. When do we use M instead of BB? All our games are with an ante. According to that we should determine our stack if we think about shoving first in M. If we want to describe a ratio like spr it doesnt matter if we use m or BB. I am asking because we do always speak of BB but if we use M instead we have to shove much early an more hands. The range who we put in the calc tools dont need this because it doesnt matter if we think in BB or M. We just have to know that we shove this range with that amount of chips. I am a bit confused because of that. The reason is that I fear that I gerally open my shoving ranges to tight if my stack decreases.
Is there a difference between sng and mtt too?

I don't know much about M, I never used it but It seems like it is simply a "preflop only stack to pot ratio" , am I right?
If true, I wouldn't use it.
Stack to pot ratio is used to simplify implied pot odds right?
Who cares about implied pot odds when you've got K9o on the CO with 8BBs and you need to consider things like: chipEV/$EV, bubble, change of blinds, ICM, effective stacks, folding equity, equity vs calling ranges etc?
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think M takes any of those factors into consideration.

no you get that wrong. m ist the adjusted bb with ante. you calc the real bb if you take the preflop pot with ante *2/3. stack to pot ratio short spr is the comparison between your stack and the pot.
