Have you been to India?

I never been there. It's far away from the Netherlands where I come from, but not sure yet if I would go there for holiday.

That's good to know. Do you have places in India you like the most?

Delhi is amazing, but it's a big city so you want to go elsewhere as well. Kerala with train is super nice. Then of course there are holy places, that India is most famous for, religious tourism, all kind of people from west interested in yoga, new age practicioners, people wishing to be hippie, friendly, and so on... all kind of practices. I was in a small vegetarian town called Pushkar (with a famous holy secret mysterious lake in the middle of town) for two months where only vegetarian is allowed for the whole town (alcohol and meat is banned in the whole town). It is amazing but it is very religious, like a deep place for worship, lot of temples. There are "normal" places as well which are super nice, such as Kerala in south.

I actually had a Fixed Limit Holdem Skype poker friend in Delhi (the main airport), he invited me. When we think of "homes of people" in European way, we think of like, sauna, bath, books or something. There it is like huge pictures of golden gurus on walls in homes.

Sounds nice indeed, but in general India seems like a poor country.
I would like to go to smaller towns than big cities.

it also has it's benefits... you could get a whole house in Jodhpur for like 40 euros.

Few days ago I was in India (on gogle street view). This country looks like a war zone and dumpster.

Isn't it a super unsanitary country? Like people shitting in the streets for instance...?

So which one of these relates to you?

I haven't been to India before, but I heard it is a very diverse place, especially historically speaking? Some have likened it to Europe in that regard, saying that it is astonishing that a region with so many different cultures became a single nation at all.

Either way, it's a huge country for sure, so I'm sure there are both nice places and not so nice places over there somewhere. Surely not all of it looks like a dumpster or has people defecating in the streets, at least.

Typically, the things that come to my mind when I think of India are these:

1. Amazing food, some of the best around
2. Cricket
3. Ancient religions/philosophies
4. Elephants, Cows
5. Gandhi quotes, maybe some from Rabindranath Tagore too
6. "Hello, this is Microsoft refund department!"

i have seen a person shit on street one time in my life, but it was in Europe, Barcelona

That happen indeed sometimes on strange places. Some people doing it in the nature as well during walking. That's better than on the street I think.

yeah once i was in Lithuania looking for a place to stay in night, thinking of squatting an abandoned building even, but someone a homeless person had made a great poo in the middle of the room. don't worry, i later found a good hostel for a suitable $50 or less.

That's good you found a good place in the end.
