Is there anyone else whose skype has crashed and can't recover? Every time I try to sign in the program auto-closes, and I'm wondering whether it's my software or on Skype's end.

i had this problem. i fixed it by right click->properties->compatability. then make sure that "run this program in compatability mode" is not ticked
Seems since Microsoft bought skype problems have been occuring.
I had the same thing. It happened after Skype auto updated itself.
The solution was to find an earlier version of SKype, uninstall, disable all firewalls and antivirus progz while reinstalling the older version, reboot and enable fw and AV again. Oh, and disable auto updates

I went on the skype website and they offered instructions for deleting an XML file that was causing the problems. After deleting it I also ran Ccleaner for good measure and it deleted a bunch of bum registry entries related to skype. Now skype works fine.
Hi guys,
There was also a downtime on Thursday. Skype was basically crashing for everyone. I didn't have connecting for hours. However it was solved later that day.
