We are now down to the serious stuff.Carter def gone or are they overplaying his injuries.On the back of today's performances and the group stages i will be sick if the winner of Ireland/Wales does not get to the final.French were nothing short of shambolic though fair dues to Samoa.England Scotland game was a tough one but poor standard.

I've never seen a crowd of supporters so pleased to fluke a win v a weaker opponent with a last minute try. Ofc this from the team capable of doing a lap of honour after a record defeat so nothing surprises me really...

Carter confirmed busto, Aaron Cruden brought in to squad to replace him.
All Blacks clearly weakened by loss of Carter and given Slade's complete lack of composure to date things will be much tougher. Having said that, he does have some ability and this will just have to be the making of the guy now.
'The Beard' may get an absolute hiding today - I'd think the ABs will be out to make a statement they might otherwise have not had to make. It should be a proper test for Canada to see where they're at, and a proper test for the ABs to see how they react to a pretty solid blow to their team. Now I'm REALLY looking forward to the match. Game on, Gentlemen.
PS In the train home last night it was awesome to hear fans from both sides talking excitedly about watching the Warriors NRL Grand Final game v Manly. If you love sport at the serious end, New Zealand's a pretty decent place to be this weekend.

Congrats on the double win today,England and Liverpool.Ref spoiled the game at Goodison today but that wasn't Liverpools problem.Other games were good today.Shame Wolves didn't get the clear penalty against Newcastle.Nice morning of rugby ahead now.NZ playing well and look forwards to watch Wales and then what i reckon will be a tight game against Italy.Incredible to think after the 3 strong wins Ireland had they are now involved in a do or die game.It won't be as easy as people think.

Not the greatest Merseyside derby ever however like the Wolves game I will take any points we can get after that Spurs game.
Really happy that Carroll got a goal as well as giving another good performance my bet for him to win the golden boot is probably a lost cause but at least he is on his way.
Again the ref was shocking thankfully this time it was in our favour and not against us, Rodwell should not have been red carded but perhaps it did even itself up when we never even got a free kick for a dangerous foul on Adam.
Suprised how well Newcastle are doing this season considering they have lost some top players like Enrique who is proving a great buy for Liverpool.
I was at the Wales / Fiji match yesterday, and wow. Ireland v Wales could easily be the match of the quarters. Sure Wales weren''t playing a powerhouse team, but by gee they looked the goods. Nice to see a NH team playing a game called rugby that I recognise as such. 
Hoping we see angry ABs v Argentina and they sort that match out early. Argentina will have been pleased to have secured Nigel Owens as ref... probably their best chance for the win. SA v Ockers has been seen before, should be willing, but have to go SA there as Aussies have shown nothing to date. Lottery match is France v England.
Have to say I'm quietly pleased for the tournament that the draw has worked out as it has. It should keep the interest of both sides of the globe right to the finish.
As for bad news stories about the RWC, I think the best course of action is to assume that they are most likely generated by ex-News of the World employees looking to utilise their skills. Most are either beatups or fabrications. Given the 6k+ volunteers helping out at the RWC most don't get to see the matches - I run around the concourse of the South/East stands at Eden Park at really only get to see a bit on the concourse tellies and a bit at the end. Many, many helpers don't even get to see that. If you want to see a match there have been plenty of opportunities to either purchase a ticket, or take advantage of the awesome offer by one of the sponsors to give four free tickets to each vollie for a match (hence me at Wales v Fiji). And not just 'selected' games either. I know some vollies who chose to see Aussie/Ireland for nix. Stories like the choir not getting to see the game just seems like gutter journalism. Trust me, the comp has been nothing but win (at least from my perspective) from beginning to date (Dan Carter's groin aside).

@Waiboy, I wouldn’t say it was a fluke but it was a poor match. It’s about time Johnny retired from International rugby too slow and predictable. My only worry is Flood will now get more game time…
I was looking forward to watching Carter perform in the knock out stages, best pound for pound player ever? Has McCaw recovered from his foot injury? Without those two, you’ll struggle to reach the final.

Injuries to Best and O’Connell permitting, I have a feeling that Ireland may be too strong/streetwise for Wales. If the ‘real’ France don’t turn up England should walk into the semis, whether they will progress any further I’m not sure? I’ve been nothing but disappointed by England’s caveman rugby, no spark in midfield, no genuine 7 and the arrogant ‘celebratory sport star’ attitude to go with it. There is NO place in rugby for Beckham style media hungry ‘celebs’ and its saddens me to say it, but we have far too many. Who’d have thought Johnno would let them get away it? If anyone could puncture their overinflated egos, its Johnno and to constantly back them after one bad performance followed by another, makes no sense? It’s time to swing the axe. Yep, Rodwell should never have been sent off and Hibbert should have gone, the ref ruined the match as contest, but as you say a win is a win!
Now he has his first league goal, lets hope Carroll kicks on and starts to bully defences. Also, how long can Kenny keep Bellamy on the bench? His work off the ball, closing down defences is immense, he never stops running for the team. Cant wait to see him in tandem with Suarez, with Gerrard just behind.
United were lucky again at the weekend, City have too many egos, Liverpool top3 all the way. Bring on the 15th!!

• Steve Walsh - who received a three-day suspension for "inappropriate behaviour" following an altercation with the then-England fitness coach Dave Reddin in 2003 - will referee England's quarter-final against France. South Africa's Craig Joubert will take charge of the last-eight clash between Wales and Ireland in Wellington, while Nigel Owens will referee New Zealand's tie with Argentina and Bryce Lawrence is the man in the middle for South Africa's match against Australia.

That was freakin' hilarious - obv you can't have match officials spraying team management with a water bottle, but I dare say that was preferable to what he'd probably have preferred to have done.
