I heard about that on the radio.
Here they are considering playing sports events to empty arenas

I understand that this is a very new virus -- or at least they think it is -- but I'm surprised at the level of concern.

We have a few of these in the last decade or so:
 SARS
 MERS

How likely is it that this one will simply go away?
Vaccinating 7 billion people won't happen -- and even if it did, the virus is out there, and will likely mutate as the flu viruses do.

We live in interesting times...

Here wet weather and all socces matcher are cancelled for the rest of the month.

Not bad. That's hopefully a good way to kill the Carona Virus.

Hopefully, even if many experts don't feel like saying with certainty that the heat will help kill the virus.

Here on the Wet Coast of Canada, we have below-normal temperatures through to the end of Marchuary.

In these days of fight against covid-19 in Italy 2 slogans are the most popular. '' I'm staying at home '' and '' Everything will be fine ''

Only problem is that you don't get any food if you stay for weeks at home.

Here they are starting to bring in restrictions, starting with suggestions that people avoid unnecessary public gatherings.
Necessary would include getting food, we presume.
They have stated that there will be no restrictions on cross-border transport of food.

I think that the mistake made by everyone, even here in Italy at the beginning, was thinking "so much will not happen to us". It is happening all over the world and the United States has underestimated it too much.

That for sure, but weird enough with a normal flu epidemic they don't take this kind of restrictions with in mind a lot of people dead every year of influenza. Especially old people.

In Italy the average of the deceased people is 81 years old and almost all with serious pathologies in progress, so let's say that the virus has given the coup de grace. It is also true that a big problem is given by all those who need the intensive care and there are many. They said that the first effects of these extraordinary closings and restrictions will be seen in a week ....... hopefully ......

Some people are reacting strangely -- such as buying up huge stocks of toilet paper.
Toilet paper is made locally so it is unlikely to be in short supply.

In the end we will see if all those restrictions will work.

At 20.00 I will start my last night shift. The ceramic in which I work will close at least until the 25th of the current month. In Italy the next 2 weeks will make you understand many things. We hope well .....

Time will tell.
Even the great flu epidemic of 1918 ended -- and it ended without massive restrictions.
I think that this one will end without the huge numbers of deaths of the 1918 event.

Closer to home, either today or tomorrow we will hit 12 hours of day and night -- 4 days earlier than the equinox due to the way sunrise and sunset are determined.

Yesterday I went to a chicken place -- normally you can eat in or take out, but all I wanted was take-out.

While I was there a gentleman placed an order, but when he went to pay, they were not accepting cash.

Another couple had already ordered and paid. That man paid for the first guy's order.
