We have a cat that likes to jump up on the bathroom counter in the middle of the night and knock things on the floor.
He is hoping to attract our attention so that one of us will run the water tap -- he likes to drink directly from the tap.
We did this when he was little, which was a terrible mistake.

Another thing we did was use a squirt bottle[1] to train him.
Cat's (or at least our cats) don't like being squirted with water, so they stop what they're doing instantly.

So last night when Punkin jumped up on the counter I noticed that there was a squirt bottle beside the bed.
Crap. No water in it.

No matter. I pointed it at him and pulled the trigger. Just once.
Cat scoots off the counter.

At Vorpal Manor, there is now 15hr of daylight.
Still quite cool though -- max 16C for the next two weeks.

Excellent sunny weather here today.

Also, it looks like those English muffins which are part of my standard breakfast fare are now sold in packs of three instead of two. I considered two to be perfectly appropriate for one serving, so that's not great. Especially because I only had two chicken patties at home today.

So I just got another egg, and made a combination of my two go-to breakfast meals, with two chicken and one egg muffin. Also cheese and bacon on all of them, because it was mussgo (though I would put it on the egg muffins anyway).

12km walk?
Nice -- I can manage 5km, and I'm worn out.
I usually do 3 in the late evening, so I'm good and pooped so I sleep well

Did I mention our dishwasher broke?
It burned out the drain pump (or so I presume since everything else works).
It was old enough to drink -- even in the States -- and had numerous other failings -- like the door springs didn't work, the cutlery basket was all warped and so on.

So we decided to get a new dishwasher. For the first week that was me

So we spent a few weeks looking on line and getting recommendations from friends and relatives, and decided on one of 3 choices.
Then we just needed to find a decent price. I also wanted to see some Miele machines that I had heard good things about, but had never seen.

So yesterday when we took our friend home to Vancouver, we stopped by a major appliance wholesaler near her place.
Walked in found one of the 3 choices, at a price just a wee bit under the best we had seen so far, so we bought it.

We also checked out the Miele.
Miele == pricey

We also paid the installation fee.
Yes, I could do it myself, but the big snag with doing it myself is disposing of the old one.
This involves finding a friend with a truck (no one I know of has one any more) and paying the dump fee.

Renting a truck and paying the dump fee would cost more than having it installed.

I'll let you know how well it does dishes.

Maybe that was part of the problem... :f_biggrin:

And for No Meat Tuesday today, I made another version of the fake chicken burgers from last week.

This time, I topped them with honey mustard sauce and pickles, instead of ranch dressing and tomatoes.

As much as I like my homemade ranch dressing, I think I prefer today's version. The honey mustard sauce is more tangy, so it made it easier to forget that what I'm eating is not actually chicken.

After we ordered the new wash-disher on Monday, I decided not to wash any by hand.
It is rather surprising how fast 3 people can go through a cupboard full of dishes!

Oh man! :rage: Tons of mussgo-veggies in the fridge. :rage:

We´ll have mussgo-soup today and homemade bread. Always have to watch the carbohydrates, that we eat enough of them. We need them for tennis and cycling. So, today it´s bread, soup and there´s also mussgo-cheese.

Have to cook a large amount of soup and freeze down the left-overs, so there´s no waste of food. _thumbsup:

The new dishwasher works wonderfully well
It holds an amazing quantity of dishes too.

I'm guessing it has about double the capacity of the old one.
